The cage looks great. I have looked at that thing so many times. How was the install? As for the paint. My 04 was missing lots of paint on the under carriage. My son in laws 06 Rubi was not painted under the cargo area carpet. How cheap is that! Thanks for the compliments guys... jeepguylj & money, the install was easy. Anyone with the right tools, and a few buddies could tackle this in no time. In all honesty, the thing that took us the longest....was gettin' those darn nutserts/clips on the dash...it seriously was a pain. Alignment and adjustment took place after the parts were all bolted in finger tight. money I'm soooooo pissed that this wasn't painted. A few Jeepn' buddies have told me to take it to the dealership and demand it gets fixed, and part of me wants to, BUT the fact of the matter is.....wheelin' season is here, and I don't want the dealership to even have my Jeep for a week or few days.

today I took the hard top off of my jeep and took about a 100 mile trip. I let it air out and breath a little. I have a question..... what type of bikini/safari tops do you all have or recommend. I like the looks of the safari tops, but it sure looks like there is enough matterial there to create a lot of popping. I would prefer one that is as tight and quiet as possible. Any suggestions?? Thanks. - Bingo

I run the Bestop Safari Top. The extended part in the back flaps a little bit, but my kids need the shade. I make a point to tighten the rear straps before I get on the highway. If I had door surrounds and painted my tub with bedliner, I wouldn't worry about rain so much.

That looks really cool. I have been thinking about getting a windblocker that fits between the front and back seat to cut down on the wind at faster speeds. I might have to go with this one. I hope that model comes out to the house to help put it on.

It'll give you fresh air and coverage from the sun at a price you can't beat. $FREE$ Take the $XXX.00 for the new top and fill up the tank a few times on a trip wheelin'

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I purchased this LJ new in 05, and Saturday is the first day that I've ever put the soft top on it. In my work I often carry camera's or other equipment, so I need the security of a hard top. A few times I've taken the hard top off for a day or two and ridden around but never put on the soft top. Well, I really am surprised that I really do like the soft top. I really is not that much louder thatn the hard top, and is alot more fun. After the last post I gave re: safari tops etcc... I recalled seeing where someone did just what you said, took out all three windows. I seem to recall where the rear "sailpanels" or posts, were somehow tucked under the last bow as well. That really did look good, I assumed the function of it is good too, as long as the rear panels did not become untucked.

sylvanis is right, you really can't beat the price for free. I have a Bestop safari top that I usually switch to around this time of year and completely take off the soft top. I personally like the look of the safari top vs. windows off b/c that rear bow is gone and you can see the roll bars. In terms of function though, there really is not much of a difference.

the rear sail panels gave me problems in my TJ, but my LJ has har plastic inserts that keep them from flapping off and around. I like the rear bow, as it allows me to hang toys for my daughter to keep her amused when she was younger. is this the part you're discussing: www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?jeep-sid=0&plID=858&partID=3633it claims not to work for the LJs, but I'm not so sure about that. The issue may be the plastic inserts also, a few years back, someone made replacement windows that had a mesh screen (like a home window/door) that you could zip in place of factory windows. as far as the hard top...I know where you're coming from. Back in the day on my YJ I only had a hard top because of work. The top comes off kind of easily. I rigged up a "hoist" for my TJ hard top with a couple of eye bolts and ratchet straps from the hardware store. it made it easier for me to get the hard top off by myself...knowing my wife couldn't assit me with removing it (other than undoing the torx bolts in back) there are some really good security options for the cargo area...have you looked at a Tuffy box? then you could run the soft top more!

Built an instant trunk. All the instant trunks are for the SWB or the JK so I made my own here are some picture. I secured it a little different I don't like drilling holes in the jeep. This is great looking. Not that it is really needed, but a little write up would be cool to see all the parts, hours, and even complications that you had while building it. Yesterday I purchased a Currie Anti-Rock for my LJ. Should be here on Next Monday. Just enough time to install for the All Breeds Jeep Show. Krafty

I bought my Jeep a present today. A Bestop trail cover so that I can keep it topless during the days and covered up outside at night and in bad weather all Summer Long.

mdcj7, Yes I will be in the show. I was there last year in the stock class. This year I am planning on helping out the club, so I may not have as much free time to look around. When I do I will head over to check out your jeep. See you there!
