i really want to lift my unlimited. But I am as to what lift to get. Jeep is a o5 sport lj, 6 speed. it is mainly a pavement warrior with the ocasional trip to the sand flats and mud holes. I will settle for 33's but the voices in my head say 35's. please help me with this crisis before i go !

I wish I had a picture of it, but my camera was in the shop - I lifted mine about 2 inches above factory height with the stock jack to fix a flat (4k miles).

2" RE BB and 32's - mainly built for the Outer Banks of NC - will probably do a 1' BL and MML if I find it rubs too much on trails.

huskerjoe - can you post frontal or front angle shots if you don't mind? I've got the same color jeep and would love to see it "transformed" - that's pretty much the setup I was thinking only with 31's

I currently have a 2" RE BB.
I plan on doing a 1" BL/1" MM so I can raise the shovel with some sort of tummy tucker. This will be done over the winter.
When I do my lift this coming summer, it will be a RE 3.5" Super-Flex. (short arms) This should keep my COG nice and low. There will be NO dealing with the rear long-arms dragging & getting hung up on obstacles.
35" MTR's mounted on some "BLING" rims, and that will be that.

Treeofliberty - Are you using the stock spare carrier for your 33s and how is it working out?

salyers890 - these are the only two I have - sorry, it was late in the afternoon and the pictures didn't come out that well - I will take more this week and get them posted.

Treeofliberty - Are you using the stock spare carrier for your 33s and how is it working out? No, I'm not. The dealer had a lifted LJ running 33's on the stock carrier. It creeked and rattled horribly. It was also peeling the tailgate away from the body. We're using the Bestop carrier. It's very heavy duty and opens with the tailgate. However, if I did it again I'd get the Garvin, with the bumper and cargo stuff. I don't have any good way to carry jerry cans.

HuskerJoe,
You are really inspiring me to lift mine and do 32's. I really like how yours looks. How do you like the 32's with stock gearing? Did you loose a lot of acceleration? How badly did the larger tires effect gas mileage?
Thanks in advance,
Pete

Pete, The gearing seems fine - I have to give it an extra kick on the hills {its an automatic by the way} but I think that is more just me not used to the way it drives now - the acceleration from a stop doesn't seem affected at all - I'm sure to some degree it is, but I drive with a pretty light foot as it is so it might just be me. I learned after the first month of owning this thing that it was futile to worry about gas mileage, I haven't noticed it much so I don't think it is a horrible difference. I toyed with the idea of 31's for awhile, but decided there wasn't much point in doing the 2" lift and only going up an inch in tire size - I know you get more articulation with the smaller tire, especially if you trail run with the sway bar disconnected, and you don't have to run the spacers{32's will fit w/o the spacers, but just barely} but for the type of off-roading I do {lots of beach, light trails} it wasn't my biggest factor. Plus, and this is probably the most important, I just really thought it looked cool!!!!!

Thanks Joe for all the input.
I'm planning on in the spring lifting 2.5 inches with the OME system and 32's. I think this would serve me well as I'm not really trying to tackle the hardest trails but want more clearence so I don't bottom out too much but don't want to loose the driveability of the LJ since that's where it will spend the majority of it's time.
My plan is: OME 2.5 32 inch tires Jeeperman skids
I'm hoping that the stock gearing won't be to bad but we'll see.
