Pete, sounds like a great plan! I've heard good things about the OME lifts. I didn't realize you had the 6 speed transmission, you may want to ask around to see if anyone noticed much difference when running 32's or even 33's with the manual tranny, my guess is you would have less noticeable difference then an automatic since you control the shift points.
Be careful, my initial plan was to do my lift {as mild as it is} once I needed to replace the stock tires, but once I started really looking into it, within 2 weeks I was done....now I have 4 Goodyear GSA's with 17k miles on them{plus the brand new spare, once I get that changed to a 32 also} sitting in my garage with my wife asking what I'm going to do with them. I think I will put them on a cheap set of steel rims and use them if I ever want to try some harder off road stuff where I need the extra clearence. Man, this stuff just gets in your head doesn't it?!?!?!?

Pete- sorry, I didn't realize you asked this question to me on a different thread - sorry I missed it over there and didn't reply.

Thanks for the pics Joe. I have settled on 31's myself, as the trade-off for 32's wasn't really worth it to me. A more agressive stance and extra 1/2" clearance vs. Wheel spacers, modifying stock tire carrier.
My dad runs 31 BFG's with a 2" lift, and I like the look of his setup.
I am picking up my SkyJacker coil spacers at the local offraod shop today, with the intent of installing the lift, and new tires this weekend.
I'll put up some before and after pictures from a couple different angles to show what the efects of the lift are.

I did this with my first jeep and I want to keep the amazing road manners of the LJ. That and I am aready mod crazy with my car. I also have been out of the offroading world for 10 years so I don't want to over modify and go out and get into trouble. I figure a mild lift will allow me to do medium difficulty trials but nothing crazy. I'm getting mixed reviews with the 6 speed and 32's. It seems like it's subjective as to whether people thinks it's worth it to regear with 32's. I figure that going with 32's will actually make me use 1rst gear instead of skipping it or using it for a second or so. Pete

I figure that going with 32's will actually make me use 1rst gear instead of skipping it or using it for a second or so. Pete Just a note on the gearing. I had 32's with the auto and 3:73 gears. I went with 32 because I didn't want to regear. Well it was OK on flat ground and no wind. Any hills or a full load or a strong headwind and the trans was hunting for overdrive to much. The RPM's were to low and the engine just worked to hard. When I put in ARB's I did the regear to 4:56. The chart put 4:11 and 4:56 in between perfect. The gear Manufacturer recommended the 4:56 because the LJ is heavier and most likely will be loaded more as well. I don't know if this helps you with your decision but I thought I would offer it. Also the ACOS coil spacers are adjustale from 1 " to I think 4". As you add weight you just let the weight off the springs and screww them down. Real simple. I am adding a winch and bumper now so I will adjust them down about 3/4" for the extra weight. Good Luck!

Thanks,
This helps a lot. I'm leaning towards regearing because it's not like the LJ is all that quick to begin with. I was thinking 4.11 because 4.56 might have been a bit of overkill.
How do you like the 4.56? I would assume that the acceleration on your LJ got better with this gear but you rev higher no? How did this effect your fuel economy?
Thanks for you input,
Pete

The 4:56 gears seem fine. I will say the Jeep is a lot peppier off the line now, not that I need that. The 4:11 are on the low side of where the stock gears were and the 4:56 were just above stock. So because of the extra weight that it carries I went up. Also should I ever want to go to 33" I would then again be on the low side of stock, where the 4:11 will put you back looking to regear. As for the mileage I have not really checked it. I just installed the new speedo gear so now I can check. With the old speedo gear I was racking up more miles on the odometer then I was really driveing. Now I am Ok to check it. If you do not have the link to the gear chart let me know I and I will find it.

does any one run ome 2.5 and 1.25 bl/mml and 33 or 35"s? I'll have that exact set up installed on my Unlimited Rubi by the first of October. The tires I'm going with are the Super Swamper Trxus MT's in the 255/85R16 size...which comes out about 33.1x10.04. I'll post pics as soon as it's all done...

Mine is equipped a full traction 6" lift and 35" tires. These pics were fresh out of the garge after completing the lift and sure it will settle some after driving it. Plus i still have to install the gas tank skid and buy a winch and front bumper

OME 2.5, JKS 1.25 BL, 1 MML, 285/75/16(32.8x11.2) -also added spidertrax spacers to help with the bad backspacing my Moabs have.
