There are a number of posts on this subject awhile back. Bascially though it comes down to the construction of the filter. FRAM tends to use cardboard in their filters. I have also heard that Mopar equals FRAM.
I use Mobile 1. I will have to search for it but there is a pretty good comparison done between filters. Someone took the time to tear a bunch of filters apart a run a bunch of studies. FRAM came out at the bottom.

I am happy with the K&Ns. Really like the attached nut, so you don't need a wrench, just your socket and you are good, not fiddling around. It is a little more expensive, but...

I change the oil about every 5 weeks.(3000 miles) Since I do it so often, I kept using Fram. 101,100 miles and no problems yet. Next week will be oil change #34.

Tex, i have been using fram for five oil changes and have had no problems just recently i have heard alot and i mean alot people say stay away from fram filters that they are not well made and that there are better filters you can buy. I just want to change to a better filter just so i be on the safe side.

jeepguylj, The number for the Mobile 1 I use is M1-204. It's a little pricey, about 9 bucks. For all other newbies reading this who have to teach themselves about maintenance by using the internet (like me), here is a greatt site with step by step instructions for all kinds of maintenance: jeep.us41.org/oil/index.html

I use the K&N you can pick them up at most Advance Auto parts and the nut that is on the end is great, I have had no problems out of them at all.
