We are going to miss you Rich. Your threads get the most reactions in the shortest amount of time. If you buy the KIA you will never make back the money you lost in depreciation with the gas savings of the KIA. Worst of all your driving a KIA. See what resale on an 04 Sonata is now against it's original price.

I will say this about resale value...my 04 Scion xA (Wife's car) with right around 20k on it has not depreciated very much at all. It is 6 months older than the LJ, and we paid $13,000 for it. Kelley has the Private party blue book on it at right around $11,000. I have to say, as much as I love to drive the LJ, it is nice to have a gas receipt for less than $20.

I just wanted to say how much I love my unlimited and at 10 mpg with 4.88's and 37's I don't think my gas mileage is all that bad. I drive my jeep like I stole it and have no regrets about my purchase.

I don't even own my Jeep yet and I am already infatuated with it. Ever since driving my buddy's YJ back in '94, I don't think there is any other vehicle I have ever actually desired. Just never had the money until now (many thanks, Mr. Saddam Hussein).
So I guess having someone jump on a board and tell me what a hassle my new baby is going to be doesn't quite jive with why I like to read this here forum.
Before you go Rich, could you please fill one request and post those pictures of your rig? I have always been interested in what that poor, cursed vehicle looks like.

Rich, On a brighter note, you should buy a Sonata! My wife just traded her SUV in for one and loves it. In fact, we take it to run errands or go on trips. My daughter loves it too. And the gas mileage is great. As for my Jeep, it sits in the garage waiting for the next snowstorm. Plus everytime I go in there I like to look at it. I love my Jeep Unlimited! I was just telling my wife the other day how much I enjoy it and that I'll never trade it in. I've got big plans for it this summer. Ridge

I have only been visiting this site for a few months, but IMHO I think Rich is doing some kind of sociological experiment, or maybe just F***ing with this forum. It seems to me he posts emotional or controversial topics, then sees what kind of reaction happens. Lets face it, 8mpg, I get that in 4lo on trail runs and 12k for an 04 unlimited. Again, just my HUMBLE opinion.

Just checked the mileage today again. With a mix of highway and town driving a still got 14 MPG. I do run synthetic oil and that seems to add about 1 MPG at best. I also get 8 MPG on the trail in 4WD low but never on the road.

First off Rich you know that little knob? No not that one. The little knob with the numbers on it. You must shift it when you drive. It serves three functions; it makes you go faster, gives you better mileage and keeps people from giving you the finger. Other than that I think you are just a:

I agree with most of what everyone else has said....Rich, you are most definately coming off as an "attention whore" as tag said...just suck it up and either sell it or like it enough of this crap. I agree that either you don't know how to figure gas mileage correctly, you are using extremely bad gas, or there is something wrong with the Jeep (i.e. gas tank is leaking, brakes are sticking, etc.) because you should not be getting anywhere near 8mpg. I have about 5" of lift and 33x12.50R15 tires and stock gearing and still get 13-14mpg city and can get 16mpg highway if I stay around 65mph....
