I hope you get something worked out for the seats!! I was asking because it looked like on rough or choppy water it could get a bit uncomfortable on the backside sitting on those slats. Have you thought about a neoprene/wetsuit material? Not sure if it would give you the same problems that vinyl does, and might stand up to water better then leather over the long run.

Well, leather if cared for will last longer than vinyl. I have not worked out what to do with it, yet. But something does need to be done. I'll ruminate about it for a while and a plan will come to me.
Right now, I'm waiting on another starter. Went through a brand spanking new starter in two trips out... sigh.

I gave up on getting the slatted seat backs to work and just went with a straight piece of 1x12 for a seat back. Much better. www.writebyte.net/writebyte.dll/GetPage?PageId=StepPlatesAlso, after putting in two starters and then the carb crapping out, I bought a newer used motor. www.writebyte.net/writebyte.dll/GetPage?PageId=NewMotorUnfortunately, last week I burned that up, too... No full diagnosis yet. But, it looks like the water pump crapped out and in the process of overheating I blew a head gasket. I just hope that I don't have to go through the hassle of planing the head, etc.

There are folks who check in just about every couple of days... me being one of them. Now that I've replaced just about every part (supension, gears, locker, winch, armor, etc...)... So I can try and answer anything you come up with. We just need a few active people and the board will revive itself.

I check in every few days or so as well - just to see if any activity is happening.

After starting this post I still check in every now and then. It's nice to see some of the regulars still post, even if it's just to say you're still around and have your Jeep! I bought a new Dodge Ram pickup the other day. Needed something to haul stuff around with a little more interior room than the Jeep. But I still have my LJ, wouldn't trade it for anything. And I'll put fewer miles on it. I suppose it will gets lots more use with the top off in the summer, which I can't wait for!

Hey, hey. I am still around but haven't checked it out in a long while. Got the Quadratec catalog today and started wondering what everyone was up to. Hard to believe I found this site over four years ago to research buying a Wrangler and now I am about ready to pay off the loan. Still have the Unlimited and it is still going strong.
Getting ready to head off for Afghanistan this summer. Met you all when I was in Iraq for the second time. Hope we can get this site going again.

I found this site again after my deployment to Iraq. It's sad that it changed domain names, and the lack of posts on here now. I still have my Unlimited, and still have plans to modify it. Hopefully this site can regain what it once had.

My 04 currently has 69,000 miles. I recently purchased a new set of Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ's (33's) and I love them. I'm really surprised how quiet they are, and that's with the top off. Haven't had them in the mud or snow yet but it won't be long before the white stuff falls here in Idaho. I still have my top off the Jeep and it's early November! I've decided to keep the hard top off all winter, going with the Bikini top. It really isn't too bad as long as you turn the heater on. A little drafty in places, but not too bad! Plus, I have my pickup for the days when we get rain or snow. I'll try and post a few pics sometime soon.

I'm still here, wouldn't sell the jeep for anything. I just haven't had enough time lately.
2005 LJ, 40,000 miles.
