Thanks for the link. I am going to hit the Chicago Auto Show this weekend. I want to see this thing in person and try to find someone knowledgeable to talk to about the 07. I will take lots of pics. If I get anything new I will post them.

Oh Great, Moneypit, thanks. With the knowledge of them running out of green paint on the 2006s, I've pretty much resigned myself to waiting until 07. My biggest questions would be, will there be a 2 dr unlimited and when will they start taking orders? Also, will the half doors be available on the unlimited 2 dr, should such an animal exist.
But of course, any other tidbits you can glean will be eagerly accepted.

I just hope they have sombody who knows what the plans are. So many times all they have are some pretty faces and they don't know squat.

My wife's car blew a head gasket last week, pretty much forcing us to get her new ride now. We intended to wait until the end of the year for the four-door but fate intervened.
Rockcrawler.com indicated that the Unlimited trim is going away (along with the Sport, SE). But they may have been referring to the SWB '07.
From Rockcrawler:
"What Models Will There Be? There will be Wrangler X, Sahara and Rubicon models. Gone are the SE and Sport Models and Unlimiteds. Stay tuned probably later this year for a four door Wrangler."

That might make our Jeeps a little more desirable to some people in the future, like the CJ7 over the CJ5 or the Scrambler.

That might make our Jeeps a little more desirable to some people in the future, like the CJ7 over the CJ5 or the Scrambler. I think it's likely the Unlimited will be one of the more desireable platforms for collectors in the future. Unlimited Rubicons being the Holy Grail. Out of all the TJs produced, the production numbers for Unlimiteds are miniscule. I think it's likely the JK will dwarf TJ numbers as it's more "liveable" for daily drivers, and when the four-door comes out it'll finally attract a lot of families who wanted a TJ but need something more "practical." It's all a guess, of course. Jeeps, Willys, and the various military vehicles (from Willys, or Ford) are relatively cheap -compared to muscle cars or sports cars. Then you get the really rare stuff like the CJ-8 Alaskan Postal Jeeps that are incredibly rare (a particular object of desire for me), which I think would demand a high price if any restored versions were put up for sale -I've never seen one. The Unlimited is such an odd chapter in the line that I think it'll at least be as desireable as the Scramblers.

I agree, particularly if there is no Unlimited in 07. My favorite Dealer currently has 2 06s on his lot. One is Orange, the other Midnight Blue. Hopefully, I'll be able to get my finances in order in time to pick up that Blue one.

You know, Now that you mention it, I will look at the orange. Years ago, I had an Orange Pinto though, so I immediately reacted badly when I saw it online. But come to think of it, the Pinto aside, it wasn't that bad of a color.
I'll check though, if I remember correctly, the Orange did not have cruise, which is a big deal for me. (If I don't have cruise, speed keeps increasing for some reason... I get a lot more tickets.)

Given your handiness with tools, I would suspect that you could install it yourself with no issues. The kit costs around $200 from MOPAR.

Thanks Chris, that's good to know.
I went through the local dealership inventories online, today. Of six "local" dealerships, four of them have six unlimiteds, two of which are Rubicons, both Rubicons are red. There are the two red Rubicons, Two midnight Blues, a black and the Orange. All decent Colors. Other than the Rubicons, the other four Unlimiteds are all within a couple of hundred dollars of each other and very similarly equipped.
Only one of the six, a Rubicon at a dealership I dislike has the dual top feature. The Rubicon with the Dual Top Feature is the only Automatic. I'm really hoping this next week will bring me a contract I've been working on that will allow me to purchase. 'Cause hanging out here has made the angst worse, instead of easing it. Basically, I can't move, until I get a break on the work situation. So, we shall see.
Bottom line, if I can move in time, I will still Order a 06 if the ordering is an option. I want the dual top option and I don't want to have to go to a jerk to get it. Failing that, I'll ask my buddy who runs the one dealership, if he can do a dealer swap. If that's not an option, I'll buy either the Red Rubicon or the Blue regular he has in stock. (I was mistaken, the Orange was at a Different Dealership I know nothing about.)
I've bought three cars from this guy now and he has given me superb deals every time. After I held his feet to the coals on the last one, I feel like he deserves my business on this one.
So, that's the state of my wishful thinking. Wish me luck this week.
thx.

good luck buddy - a little advice from a non-rubi owner: get the rubicon if you can afford it. The dual top can be added later by buying someone's top or getting one from a dealer. the dana44's up front, the SYE, the 31" MTR's, and the lockers all add up to way more than the upgrade would cost. Plus, rubicons hold their value so much longer. not to mention, you get a cool sticker.
that's not to say I'm not happy with my jeep (customer preffered package = all the options). If I could go back and spend the extra 1200 though, I would have blasted a rubicon from the showroom.

gotta agree with slayer on that one, knowing now what I do, I would have oped for the Rubi package as well, mainly for the axels..I do love my jeep, but I'm gonna end up spending like 2k just to get my drivetrain set up over the next few years.
Now I've noticed some guesses, but has anyone actually heard the fate of the LJ? I've been searching the Jeep.com and talked to a friend thats a dealer...neither have any info. after that I got to thinking along the lines of rare, and realized this is gonna turn into more of a CJ-6 type of rare..being that I've only seen em overseas. I could be wrong of course, but has anyone seen a 6 floatin around?

The early stuff I saw on the 07 all mentioned the Unlimited. But, I'm getting a little concerned that the 07 wrangler site on jeep.com so far only mentions the rubicon, the sport and the 4 door. Then to have it reinforced above, I'm thinking the Unlimited may be very limited in its run, here.
Thanks for the advice on the Rubicon too, guys. I believe I will get a rubi if I can. I'd never thought about it before, simply because I was getting the LJ for a lot of reasons not specifically related to off roading. But, if I get into off-roading too, I'm sure it will be a benefit.
