I wave but to CJ's, YJ's and TJ's but sometimes people don't wave back.
I think my area doesn't really do it much. Back in the early 90's everyone waved.
I didn't do it when I had my ZJ. People looked at me funny.

I find that girls rarely wave so I only return a wave if I get one. The more Mods a Jeep has the more likely to get a wave. Weekends bring more waves then weekdays. Top down increases the Waveing. These are my observations.

I wave but most people either don't see it or don't wave back.
The ones paying attention usually wave.

I wave to all CJs and Wranglers. I'm old. I was waving when there were no Wranglers, and it was strictly a CJ thing. We didn't acknowledge station wagons then, so I'm not going to now. I do not withhold waves from stock Wranglers, it's none of my business how someone treats their car. The fact that they chose a Wrangler is good enough for me. Besides, the guy in the stock Wrangler might be like me, and my other Jeep is anything but stock. ;D

I always wave and get one back 95% of the time. Its nice to see the other vehicle beat me to the punch also. I've even waved when driving my wifes car and then realized i'm not in my Jeep. I think it's great, if i'm having a bad day and get a wave it makes me feel a little better.

I wave everytime I am not distracted by actually paying attention to the road. I have gotten waves from guys, girls, old dudes, and highschool kids. It seems pretty universal. Never been waved at by anything but a TJ, YJ, or CJ. I have seena few heavily modded KJ's, and XJ's, waved and didn't get anything back.
I have waved driving my "other car" before as well...slightly embarassing.

I did that last year when I had a geo metro (while the Jeep was down for repairs) I couldn't help it  & got a few of those weird looks too.. I miss that car (58 mpg  ) I get alot of waves when I drive the Jeep here in VA & I love it |

Everybody waves at everbody in Ellis County, but I always wave at Jeeps all over Dallas. They usually return the wave. Girls don't wave back as much because they don't want to be hit on by every guy she waves at. Texas has a lot of pretty girls in Jeeps.

I wave and get waved at in both my XJ and my LJ. Course my XJ aint your normal Grocery Getter.

I wave definatly... I have also noticed that having the top off or extra mods increases the the "return" wave. My unlimited is currently stock with parts on the way. With my hard top on... no one seems to notice me. I hate it when people don't wave back and you feel like a tard.
