I am just curious to what you all think. I in no way want to place a name with a vote, unless you decide to do so. Feel free to talk politics if you want, your likes and dislikes, ect. I am putting extra thought in this years election, despite the news coverage. Thanks

Well as I see ....Hillary would be Americas first socialist President. Obama is being marketed as our next Savior. All about hope and change. So far he's not had to show any substance. He is our state Senator. I can't tell you 1 thing he has accomplished here. Mc Cain is hard to believe. This guy tends to change his mind and really could run as a Democrat. Other then supporting the war he could easily be on the other side of the aisle. Because of his age who his VP would be is important. He's to old to be a 2 term President and his advanced age always comes with health worries. No one else has a chance. Wish there were better choices.

When there isn't good choices, where do you go. I'll tell you.....you go where the government tries to hide the party with " real change" and "real ideas" although they may seem a bit goofy. Is weed bad? Can it be controlled, taxed, create jobs? Where in the law books does it say we " have to pay income tax?" I have been doing some new reading, and don't know a lot yet, but there is other choices out there, if the " only" canidates suck. I feel this year is one of the most important years to vote. Do the research for your country!

While I agree that the choices are not very good. The alternative candidates don't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning. Ron Paul has some very good ideas. But when he gets to the "lets get rid of the IRS" he loses. While it sounds great to all of us it just can't happen. This country can't pay it's bills now. Where is the money going to come from? . I'd love to see #1...term limits for the Senate and the Congress and #2....flat taxes. You pay tax on only what you buy. But I also know that neither of these things will ever happen. So I say vote for the best of the worst. Maybe I only get 25% of what I want for this country. But 25% of something is better then 100% of nothing. It helps!

Maybe I'll run for prez one day. I would stop spending 1.2 million dollars on hummingbird research, and put that towards places to wheel.

I think both you are on the money. When it comes down to real changes, it really comes down to how the government decides to police "itself". I believe term limits for Senate and Congress is a HUGE issue. I think that would attract the right kind of people that are interested in serving the people rather than lining their pockets or protecting their jobs. I also think it would end gridlock and actually let Congress get something done.
Also love the idea of a flat tax. Why not make it simple and have a person put in 10% towards the goverment? Government spending is also freaking me out a bit. I am certainly not an economist but when you are carrying a debt that large maybe it is time to trade in for a smaller car and basic cable.
Being the in the military, foreign policy effects me directly. I think McCain undertands it best but I don't think he is what the world is looking for (for what that is worth). I really think other nations are pulling for Obama (and maybe that's because his wife is not proud to be an American).

In terms of Congress, I actually like gridlock. When is the last time that Congress intervened and improved your life? We have too many laws on the books already, controlling nearly every aspect of our lives. More laws will only further restrict the few freedoms we have left.
This is ludicrous, but I'd perfer a conservation of laws. If Congress wants to pass a new law, they have to repeal one.
This really is a crappy year for presidential politics. Senators make horrible presidents, as they bring no executive experience to the game. Further, they spend most of their time in an exclusive 100-member social club that doubles as an echo chamber. The Senate is where good ideas go to die. Now we have a presidential election with only senators left. Yikes.
Votes for Obama or Clinton pretty much equals surrender in terms of the war. What a sad day when McCain is the best choice. I cannot stand McCain, and he's Arizona's senior senator. It's not fair that we have a one-party system this year. Maybe he'll pick somebody interesting, like Condi Rice, for his running mate.
Pray for gridlock.

Yeah, I guess Arizona voters would have a different perspective on McCain. I don't mind him from what I have seen. Even if he does cross over boundaries at times, I am content with someone that can get some form of bi-partisanship going. I was a die hard Republican but got disgusted with the whole "you gotta think this way because it is what the party is doing" logic. Democrats do the same thing. Throw in the pundits that appeal to emotion rather than logic and we have lost debate in this country. Obama realizes it and has built his campaign on emotional rhetoric rather than substance. Issues really don't matter anymore. Now it is vote party line or vote with the trend.
Ron Paul wasn't a too bad of an idea though I am limited in my understanding of everything he supported. Unfortunately, those that would bring significant change like him are shunned in our system. That is where I don't like grid lock. I hate the over legislation as much as the next guy and none of the current candidates are going to change the system. Gridlock is here to stay. Innovation is going to remain frozen and gas is going to be $5 a gallon by summer.

Sooner or later, we'll see that Obama is Britney Spears of politics, a hollow, manufactured talent. The only reason I have any positive impressions of him are because he's standing next to HRC.
I have liked Ron Paul for years, as I watched him in the House. Generally speaking, I gravitate toward most of the Libertarian platform, with the exception of their Isolationist principles. We must hunt down our nations aggressive enemies and destroy them on their own soil. Sometimes a strong offense is the only real defense.
This will be the first time I have ever voted for McCain.

I'm going to vote for McCain, one reason is cause I'm republican as well as my parents. I also think America is not ready for a woman president and also not ready for a African American president.I also think we shouldn't stop the war on terror and not pull our forces out of Iraq till everything is complete. Just my thoughts don't want to cause anything.

I would have to disagree and think America is ready for an African American president. In fact, I believe it is just what this country needs, so that the rest of the world sees that we are about change and not just a bunch of rednecks ready to pull the trigger. With that being said I honestly believe that Barack Obama is nothing more then an empty shell of a man that is a smooth talker. This year I will vote for the lesser of two evils. John McCain 08!

I agree with you that Obama is a empty shell. I think that Hillary just wants to be the first woman president and Obama just wants to be the first African American president.
