[/img]Just joined the board. Here's a shot of my '05 Unlimited Rubicon on the beach at the Fire Island inlet (the sore thumb for you locals).

I just cancelled a deal for a '07 Sahara 4 door. I love the 4 door (I have six kids 16 and younger) because it makes sense for me. I love all the positive write ups it's been getting so I want one. Here's what's holding me back:

1. Where are the Rubicon 4 doors? I've heard of them but have yet to see one.
2. The idea of power windows is cool but can one person take the doors off or will you need a hoist. What do you get if you don't want power windows ... afterthought window cranks?
3. The full steel doors look a little out of place with the top off. How will canvas doors work ... has anyone worked that out yet?
4. Half steel doors ... has anyone seen these yet?
5. General mistrust of Jeep production. When I purchased my '05, I configured it on the Jeep website, went to my dealer only to find out that this or that (e.g., the color yellow) was no longer offered (2 month later, yellow was offered again).
6. '07 is not offered in yellow.
7. Many dealers are asking for $$ over sticker. My dealer was ok - I was getting one at sticker $. But still, no real deals to be had. Most dealers seem happy to say, "this is the hottest vehicle on the market, better come down now because it won't last" - as a loyal 4 wheel'n Jeepster I suppose I take offense to the pressure sale (I'm already sold).

I suppose most of my issues revolve around physically seeing what the various options are in the 4 door (1/2 doors vs. full doors, window cranks, etc). So instead of paying 30k for a Sahara and later seeing a configuration that I would have preferred more, I cancelled my order and am taking a wait and see attitude - I'll wait to see what they look like in 3-6 months.

Besides, it's not like I'm suffering in the '05.

In any event, I was happy to find a site dedicated to the LJ.

Hi Doug, Welcome to the board. For pictures, I use WWW.Photobucket.com . They will get resized as well. Upload your pictures there, (it's free) and then just cut and paste them into your thread. Good luck, we love pictures.

As for the 07, I have seen Rubicons but no Unlimited Rubicons yet. Don't know why.

Thanks for the photo tip. However, I work for the government and cannot access that website (photobucket). Is their another way? If not, I'll have to limit pic uploading to the home computer.

There is also Imageshack I believe as well. Also a hosting site so maybe they have that blocked also.

What good is working for the goverment if you can't surf the internet!

Welcome Doug....I am a an '07 4dr Sahara owner.

1. I saw 2 4dr Rubis...one on the road in Chicago and the other on a lot in the burbs. You may wanna check some JK sites to see more pics of Rubis. My guess is the Rubi is kind of pricey right now.

2. The powered windows does not hender the doors from coming off thanx to the ez disconnecting wires.

3. Half doors will be avail soon for all 4 doors.

4. They are featured in jeep brochures.

5. NO Yellow.

6. Still No Yellow.

7. I purchased below sticker due to a very long long stare. Oh and I am a 3rd time returning customer. My guess is they will be more flexible sometime later in '07. (I just couldn't wait)

Welcome Doug. I, too, am an '07 Unlimited owner (Sahara, Red Rock Crystal). I love it! My dealer here in Ottawa has sold 5 Wrangler Unlimiteds in the past 2 months including 3 Saharas and 2 Rubis (in fact, the sales manager bought one of the Rubis). According to the dealer, they sell within a day or two of arriving at the dealership. The hardest part seems to be getting them from DC in Toledo.

As someone in another post said recently, a lot of us Jeep lifers have been waiting for the practicality of a 4-door Wrangler and I imagine they will become quite popular. It may take a few months, but I'm sure the aftermarket will be filled with mods for the JK. Already, there are some pretty good sources.

jeepunlimited.com has some pics of the 4 door with half steel doors WITH the uppers on them. Also saw a pic of the full Steel doors on the front and halfs on the back which I thought looked pretty decent.

The only negative I have about the half doors is that the B pillar is body colored. I suppose you could paint it or cover it with vinyl. But without that, you'd have a black top with black uppers then then little body colored pillar right in the middle of everything....

Also, the discussion is that if you order with half doors, then you won't have the switches or wiring for the power windows and locks (to add full doors later). They are suggesting get the full doors stock and buy the halfs later. Don't know how true it is, but may make half foors even harder to come by - cheaply that is....
