Hi Everyone
I just purchased a 2007 Wrangler Unlimited (Sahara, red rock crystal). The dealer is expecting it to arrive next week. This is my 9th Jeep in the last 25 years, but I'm just as excited as when I got my CJ7 in '79. My trade-in Jeep was a 2002 KJ with a 2.5 inch lift and 265 70 16 tires. Unfortunately, the geometry of the lift finally wore down my CV joints and when they disentegrated last week, I knew it was time to go back to the solid front axle!! I'm looking forward to reading about all your Jeep stories, mods, trials, and tribulations. Regardless of model, a Jeeper is a Jeeper.

Welcome aboard. I still have my doubts about the new Unlimited but I would love to hear your opinions of it. Good to have you here.

Wow, I just realized that JK is KJ spelled backwards. Conspiracy? Probably not...
You may be our first JK member. That has a coolness all its own. We certainly welcome you to the board, and look forward to hearing your impressions. Be sure to post often. Any veteran of 9 Jeeps has plenty to teach.
Do you plan to lift it? They certianly look like they'll take larger tires than our TJ's, with less lift. The one JK we looked at had a protruding piece of the body, in the forward part of the rear wheelwells that was troubling to me.

No plans at the moment for a lift. The stock comes with 32s and that will have to do for now (a $$ issue). Most of my offroading is related to bowhunting in the back country so I do very little rock crawling. It's more getting through mud and deep ruts on old trails. I had put a fair amount of aftermarket mods and $$ into the KJ, so the JK will have to run stock for a little while (unless I can convince my daughters to drop out of university!).

No, no. Don't do that. If they drop out, guess where they'll land? The next thing you know you'll have a couple 35-year-old's living with you.
32's are a good start, and should serve you well. Did the dealer add that, because it looks like they are not an option for the Sahara?
4 doors would be great for hunting trips. We always have three of us, and the guy in the back gets to do the climb all the time. Its a stretch to get into a lifted Jeep. To get into the back of a lifted Jeep is even more fun.

Well, after six weeks, I finally got to pick up my new 2007 Wrangler Unlimited (Sahara) two nights ago. I will be taking it offroad on the weekend (bowhunting in the back country down old, deeply rutted and very wet, muddy trails) and I am looking forward to seeing how it performs (of course, I know it will be great....it's a jeep). Today, I drove from Ottawa to Montreal and back (about 4 hours of highway driving) and I could not believe how comfortable it was and how well it handled (very heavy rain and very windy on the way back home). Even with the crosswind, it was very stable. The engine just purrs along, and even in 6th gear, there is considerable giddyup when needed. The Wrangler has come a long way since my CJ7 days many, many jeeps ago!

I just bought an '07 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X. What I would like to do is change the tires and wheels. I got the standard 16" wheels and tires. I had a set of Micky Thompsons on the '99 Saraha that i sold , that i was going to put on the new jeep put as for my luck they won't fit, wrong everything. I was maybe looking at getting the same kind of wheel and 16" or 17" tire. Does anybody have any ideas on this. which way would be the best as far as looks. Buy the way, I'm from Ky. and I had to go to North Carolina to buy my jeep. Couldn't get what I wanted in KYor Tenn. Price or Color. CHECK OUT STEVE WHITE MOTORS IN ROCKY, NC, TALK TO JAMES WEST.
