Driven. Never owned. Want one more than... (coughs) 'female entertainment'.
To even further distance the space between dream and reality, my credit is new and I have yet to have a card. Ive been searching high and low for a dealer to set me up (almost willing to fall into a huge rate). Questions, comments, and insults are welcome.

Welcome to the board. My advise is don't stretch your finances to the point you can't pay all your basic bills. If you have to, go get an older Wrangler you can pay at least 1/2 the cost of in cash. You should not have trouble getting a loan for the other 1/2. It will help you establish credit. The last thing you need is starting off with poor credit. It's a huge uphill battle once that happens.

Welp, I mapped the $ its going to run me a long time ago. To be honest the only thing holding me down is the loan itself.
BTW, Ive shopped options picking a used model for less, but im looking specifically at the TJL (work related reasons). For that, the price isnt so far off from a new one.

starting credit is the pits. The trick is to buy something you can afford to pay cash for. But don't. Buy it on credit. Put 1/2 or more down and finance the rest. Once that is paid off trade it in on something that you can almost afford. Work your credit up like that and by the time you are ready to buy the LJ the prices will have come down some.
The credit world is like a fraternity or golf. It is pay to play. Nobody likes it but nobody's come up with a way around it other than being independently wealthy which very few, if any, of us are.

Heh, yeah. I hear all the same, but my stubburn personality refuses to give in. I have 1/4th for a down payment, but it doesnt even raise a single eyebrow with those people.
Funny thing is; my buddy has horrid credit, and can ONLY buy luxury cars. He was denied from Honda, Chrysler, and Ford, but was approved for an Audi, BMW, and a Lexus - go figure!

If you want it bad enough just get it and figure out how to afford it later. Seize the day! Life is what happens while you were making other plans.

Heh, thats not the problem. If I had all the $ together it would be said and done. Im just waiting on the damned loan.
