Hello: I'm a newbie from Idaho. Discovered this forum while surfing the net for add-ons and information about wrangler unlimiteds. Its nice to have a home! I got my jeep in spring and have finally gotten it tricked out. 4" lift. 33" tires. etc. (see my signature line). With the lift and the nice, almost Mopar, impact orange look, it is really turning heads.
Question: Does a high performance air filter really do any thing? The hype on the websites touts additional gas mileage and horsepower . . .

I got the AEM and noticed a slight increase in power and .7 MPG. Lots of "experts" say they dont but I have one and I like it. Looks cool. Sounds cool. Little extra kick in the pants. I would do it again   |

Welcome to the board. I don't have an air intake, but I have read lots on them. I don't think there is a definitive answer. Seems most people that have them like them. I do know that most like the sound and many say the filters are a problem with water crossings. I say it can't hurt .

I've read too many posts from guys who have bought nearly every one of the variants and found they did nothing to the 4.0.
I'd say blowing over $200 does hurt your wallet.

Welcome Roger! Nice to see another person from Idaho, are you up in the Cascade area? Great Jeep country up there! When do we get to see a picture of your Unlimited?

Ridge: Thanks for the "Welcome." I'm down in Boise County. County Seat is Idaho City, population 450. Only 7,500 people in the whole county. Good jeep country down here, too! I will post a picture. Direcway, my dish provideder, takes a long time to upload information . . . although the downloads are very quick. I'll post a couple pics tonight.
