Hello all. Just joined the board after making my new Jeep purchase this evening. Picked up a 06 Rubi Unlimted in Solar Yellow which is the color I have always wanted. I'll miss my 99 TJ once I sell it, but I'm very happy so far with my new ride. Look forward to meeting some great new people here.

Thanks everyone for thw warm welcome and jeepnut for sharing good taste in color choice. It's going under the knife this weekend to move the 2" BB and bumpers from my 99 on to it. The hardtop is also getting lifted up to the ceiling and the soft top going on.

If you head east out of Woodstock on Mill road {I think} it turns into Woodstock Fire Tower Road - or if you are coming from Front Royal you can head down Fort Valley Road {off 55 towards Strasburg} and turn west on Woodstock Tower Road - at the top of the mountain there is a small parking lot and overlook. There is a trail that leads to the south - about 5 minutes up that trail {it is well marked with signs pointing to the tower} is an observation tower that overlooks the Shenadoah valley to the west and east. It offers great views of the valley, especially on a clear day. Now, after you have had your fill of the vieww head down the east side of the mountain until you get to the Peters Mill Run/Taskers Gap OHV area - turn towards the south, lock it in 4 wheel drive and keep going until you get to rt. 675 - at this point you can go west towards Edinburgh, or head east towards Luray {visit the caverns!} or, if you still want to off-road, keep going straight for more trails. This is all part of the GWNF so the trails are well kept but can be crowded - especially with ATV's - be carefull also, a lot of the trails are ATV only. The trails are not the most challenging you will come across but its good fun on a Saturday afternoon. Here is a link to the Ranger districts web page - www.fs.fed.us/r8/gwj/lee/recreation/ohv/index.shtml and here is one for the tower - www.potomacwatershed.net/ijourney/shenando/woodstck.htmlHave fun - its a great place to bring a picnic, camp, or just get out of the house and in the mountains for an afternoon. As an added bonus, if you come through Fort Valley you will experience a great drive through the gap - stop at Elizabeth Furnace and poke around or even camp there. Its a weird place, if you drive on 55 you barely even notice its there, but this place is so remote it is where General Washington wanted to hide his troops if the Revolution went bad - its also legendary for hiding moonshiners and such in the old days since there are only two ways in through narrow gaps in the mountains. I sound like a travel brochure don't I?

This is the Eddenburg trail right, (sorry for the spelling) I have been on that trail , it is nothing real hard but good for a new or fairly stock Jeep and a great family ride on Sat or Sun ;D

Welcome aboard. I was just out in Northern VA on business this week. It had been years since I was back there. Nice choice on the Rubi.
