I have the new 6-speed. Now since that is geared slightly lower than the 5-speed, does anyone think I could run 33's without re-gearing. I do have a highway commute, but don't travel much over 100km/hr (60mph)
Also, does anyone think 33x10.5's will fit under the 2" BB. Its seems there is space, but I am not sure.
Thanks

On flat terrain, I'm running 4" of lift, 33x12.5's, and the stock 3.73 gears. I can hold overdrive up to about 75mph as long as theirs no incline or headwind. 60mph is a little easier.
I've read on the forums that the auto is a little more "receptive" to the strained gear ratio. You may lose the use of 6th gear. I'd guess it's a 50/50 chance. This is a certainty on hills.
It's not going to be horrible. However, with your lift you're going to be fine on the highway, but you'll rub pretty bad on a trail, especially if you disconnect the front swaybar. I believe there are some bumpstop adjustments that can be made, but that's more a kludge than a solution.
Unless you're rolling in dough, this is the Jeep curse. All mods are incremental.

I still have lots of life left in the 31's, but I wonder if I should have had the 33's. I did not notice any difference in power from the 30's to the 31's. I think I have a small make of 31 though. Thanks for the advice treeofliberty....you seem to be answering most of my questions.

I can't really speak for the 6-speed and the 3.73 gears as I have an auto and a Unlimited Rubicon, but as far as the BB and 33's...I would just add a 1" or the JKS 1.25" Body Lift and then they'll fit fine. Of course if you're adding the BL you might as well add the Motor Mount Lift as well or the Budget MML that JKS makes for only $51.

I'm not a fan of Body lifts, so I may just wait and buy the suspension lift.
Thanks

I wasn't a fan of body lifts either until I realized that to do things like a Belly Up/Tummy Tuck skid from most brands, you have to use a body lift/motor mount lift. Also, when you stay as low as 1 inch, you're not risking nor harming anything. But to each their own...
