Chris, Is yours gonna look like this? Taken at Camp Jeep this year in the Poconos. Yup, I'll bet you Tankers just don't get enough OD green. ;D This would be great for us civilians. But it would be like inviting you over to try MRE's.

Yeah, I am going to have to agree. The Jeep is nice but the color and trim would remind me too much of work. It is an escape vehicle after all.
OD green isn't so bad, though. I kind of miss it. Now it is tan. Everything is tan and brown, so that gets a little old.
By the way, how are gas prices there? I have heard that they are over $3.00 a gallon in Colorado Springs. I am also wondering what the average mileage is for the Unlimited? I have heard as low as 13 MPG up to 24 MPG? Also what is the average to fill up a tank of gas running if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks

Here in Phoenix gas peaked at around $3.20/gallon. The democrat governor is bellyaching about Arizona being above the average and how government needs to step in. Gag. Prices have now dipped down just below $3.
Most of this is being atributed to Katrina, and the affect on production in the Gulf of Mexico.
I average 15.3 MPG with the 33" tires and 4" lift. Not much changes that. If I let it go pretty dry, I end up with a little more than a $50 tank.
My gearing is a little off with the bigger meats. If I regeared to 4.56's, I'd be back in the sweat spot of the power curve and might improve the mileage just a bit, but not much.
If you go with the Rubicon, I think you can expect something around 16 MPG.

I am averaging about 15.2 mpg, with a stock setup. but running a high performance air filter. And gas in my area peaked at $3.30. It is back down to $2.89 most places now though.
The Military TJ was more of a joke than anything else. I saw it at Camp Jeep, and thought it was an interesting looking concept. Good luck with the Unlimited when you get home. You will get a little choked up the first couple tanks of gas, but after the initial shock, you get used to it, and openly weep at how muc hit costs to fill up....still not as gas-hungry as your work vehicle though. Nothing like a vehicle that measures it's fuel consumption in gallons per mile instead of the other way around.

Thanks for the help.
It seems that there are some soldiers out there running blog sites and they have been displaying pictures of US vehicles that were blown up and describing how they were blown up. Pretty stupid since they are doing the after action review for the enemy and pretty much telling them how to get things done.
Anyway, the CSA put out a pretty broad guidline of what can and can't be posted on the internet. Seems the Army is coming the web to find those site that have such pictures and coming down hard on them. Which is a good thing, because some of the stuff these guys are posting are going to get people killed. I don't think the pictures on here were of that kind, but I don't want to take any chances.
On the happy note, my order for the Unlimited will be placed on 01 NOV 05. Delivery in MAR or FEB 06. I am so excited, I don't think I can wait that long. Look forward to posting those pictures when I get back. I am trying to get it timed so my wife can pick me up in it after we get off the plane.
See you in the threads. Chris

Chris,
Perfectly understandable. Better safe than sorry on that count. Wouldn't want to give the bad guys any more information. Looking foward to some pics of your new ride when it arrives. Be careful though, once you put that first mod on, there is no turning back...you will be hooked for good.

Man, I hope the enemy is cruising this site. We're coming for you, every last one of you goat-humping, unbathed hairbags. We'll never stop coming for you. Dig yourself a hole, we'll find you. Scurry into a cave, we'll bomb it shut. Cower in the dung-soaked shadow of your camels and our JDAMS will make you a 100-yard crater. You hate us, so we hate you back, and we're better at it. The last thing you see before Hell will be an American and the business end of a 308. Go in pieces, burn in Hell. We'll bury your putrid butt in a pit of pig guts, just to cheat you out those supposed virgins. That's the kind of enemy you've created. You want jihad. Oooh baby, Americans were born to dance that dance. Pull up a chair Akmed, you've got ring-side seats. That felt so good. Stick it to 'em Chris, we've got your six. My apologies to the more civilized amongst us.

:oTell us how you really feel.
It can be dangerous to lump an entire group of people into one big ugly blob. The people we are fighting are not terribly different from the people we are over there helping. What we are seeing in Iraq is a minority group that has enjoyed 30 years of power an privelege that was taken away from them fighting to get their power back. They are employing tactics that turn our stomachs... mine included. They are killing their neighbors in an attempt to ignite a civil war in the hopes that they will be able to regain power. They will not win.
Keep up the great work Chris.

Don't worry, the only lumping I'm doing is all the fanatics who want Americans dead. The world is no longer a big enough place to hide from the wrath they've earned.
For the majority of muslims that just want to live in peace and make a decent living, welcome to a peaceful coexistance.

Chris, I did some work over there for the 1st AD, G-4 shop, about two years ago. Got off the C5 and hit the 118 Deg. and talcum power dust... it sucked. I just got an 05 unlimited, white with the hard top, 6 spd, (Coronado ready) and plan to lift it off for the summer months. A jeep is simplicity at its best, easy to fix! You will enjoy the ride, I'm sure. Joe Said That!
