I don't know that you'd need new shocks with a 3" lift spring. In the Quadratec catalog, there is a shock application chart. I'm pretty sure that my shocks are good for 2" to 4" of lift, but I'll have to double check. I also got the Rancho RS5000's and they are stiffer than the stock shocks. My main issue with my front end is that I tend to be nose heavy and am always hitting my extended bump stops up front (since I put the winch on). I think with the 3" springs I'll see if it's still an issue...if so, I'm going to remove about 3/4" from the bumpstop extensions. The guy at the local shop advised me against putting them on and said that eventually I'd end up trimming them down a bit...he was right Too bad I was too bull-headed to listen.

Forgot to mention that I have the stock front shocks, and 2" longer rear. I guess that I can answer my own question about needing longer shocks with 3" springs. On another note I currently have the 2" BB. Would anyone recommend trimming the bumpstops a little. Maybe taht is the reason I seem to always be bottoming - the start of this thread! Any ideas? ?

Too funny - I went through the same thing when I bought my BB and eventually opted not to put the extensions on {after about a 30 minute conversation with the mechanic} - everything I had read and heard was that I needed them, but this guy has been building Jeeps for at least the 20+ years I've known him so I had no choice but to trust him - no problems yet!!! I told him if I over compress my springs he's buying me new ones.....

My bumpstop extenders ended up in the trash. I just didn't see the point. I didn't need them with 31's on the stock suspension...why would I need them with the 2" BB?

I guess the bumpstops are coming out. I had the dealer install the BB for me. Does anyone know if I have to remove the springs to remove the bumpstop?

I think it would be easier to get at it, but if you can manhandle the bumpstop out, and get your ratchet in there for the bolt your should be able to do it without removing the springs. If I remember correctly, the extenders went on the back side of that metal cup that the bumpstop sits in. So the cup would need to be removed...possible to do with the springs still on I would think.
FYI to help get the bumpstop in easier (ie, with the spring still on) put the Jeep on floor jacks to release a little compression on the spring, and use some non-petroleum lubricant (ie, KY) around the edge of the rubber bump stop. It will slip right in with no wrestling. Chances are, you would need to have it on floorjacks to have enough room to work the bumpstop and extender out in the first place.
