I got a last minute invite to rausch creek off road park. I searched around for tree savers, but none were found. I decided to purchase a 3'x20' tow strap rated for 27,000 lbs. I figure I will just wrap it around a tree a couple more times than a tree saver, and hook up to the winch if need be. Is this okay to do? Thx!

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I need one by tomorrow (Sun) morning by 6 am. So with that said, I know where to get them, but not in a couple hours. My question is....the strap in my first post should be fine in a fix if need be for winching.

Ya i think u should be fine if you wrap around the tree a couple of times and hook it up to your winch. Im pretty sure other jeepers should have them just in case if you do really need to use one.

By now I'm thinking your on the trail now. Anyway I have used my towstrap to wrap around a tree to get myselfout of a ditch. Also I used it to pull some hefty sized rocks (boulders?)out of they was on a trail. I would just watch for tears and frays on it just as you would a tree strap. IMO, Have fun!

Yep, the tree saver strap is just a short/cheaper version of a regular tow strap. It keeps you from screwing up your more expensive strap by wrapping it around a tree. The main reason to have one is to keep you from just wrapping your winch line around a tree and cutting a nice groove into the tree with the cable (like many folks do). It leaves no impact on the trees, which gives us off roaders a more positive image to the "greenies" who are trying to shut our trails down.
I've used my tree strap more times than I can count. It came in my Hi-Lift "off road kit" for using the Hi-Lift jack as a winch.

You're all good....I'd avoid putting your strap on rocks. As mentioned above, it can fray and that's not the best place to be. A nice long piece of heavy chain works great for moving rocks, as well as your rear diff. Rocks drag reall well when stuck in front of a diff or in a wheel well. edit: after reading yoru second post in this thread, I'm a little late.

I realize this is a bit late now, but in case anyone else asks...Try Tractor Supply Company. Their website has a store locator, and I know there are several in Jersey/S.E. Pa, and they have pretty decent prices on recovery straps and tree savers. I bought my tree saver there a couple of months ago.

Your right on that 81. I go there for everything.....high lift, straps, but no tree savers though. At least not the one by my house.
