test drove a early 05 rubi unlimited yesterday and when under hard breaking it sounded as a tire was rubbing, we searched for this and no tire rub but it happened all the time under hard braking. it also felt as the driveshafts were involvered but i cannot hold anything to that. would this be abs system or something just messed up with it. Didn't go into the sales ny furture as the sales monkey was not very good at his job. s

Might just be the mud tires. You "feel" them when slowing down.

Was the sound from the front or the rear? Was the rig stock or did it have any work on it? It is definitely not ABS since no TJ Unlimiteds came with it.
I have heard it on the rare occasion of hard breaking - not sure if it is the same thing or not.

Right, but with "MUD TIRES" you're going to get a noise and a feeling like your front brakes are F'd up if you hammer on the brake pedal on pavement. All the big lugs in the tires make noise and big vibrations when coming to a stop...especially with too high of air pressure.
The first time I drove with mud tires on my LJ, I thought my front brakes were screwed up.
