Is there any resentment toward the 4-door JK since it's not a "traditional" Jeep? I'm sorta getting that feeling since it has to "grow" on people.

No more resentment than we first got for driving the "long Jeeps". They're just different, and it takes folks a while to get used to them. Once enough of the "internet wheelers" see them on the trails, I'm sure they'll have plenty of respect.
Personally...I like them, but have yet to see a single one (or even a 2-dr JK) out on the trails. Every one I see around town (and there are a lot of them) is being driven by a woman...which really lessens the chance that it will get used on the trails. It took about 2 years before I saw another LJ on the trails... give it time. As more folks get the bug for modifying their rigs, the perception will change.
Bottom line is...if you like it, that's all that really matters.

I dont' resent the JKs. If there is another child on the way, I'd get a 4 dr JK. I'm sure that my wife would like the pwr window on it (she's hated the cranks ever since the window frame on my YJ cracked from the rest of the door)
I'll consider one if a diesel is put in it too.

I think in some online forums you will find other people who are less friendly to change and something different. Here most people are courteous and willing to accept new things. That being said, the 4-door JK has yet to grow on me. That doesn't mean I don't respect it - from everything I have heard it does great on the trails. I just don't know if I would buy one for myself. I am not crazy about the look of the 4-door without the top/doors on (its not bad, but not my preference). I completely understand why people get them, the back seat is tough to get to on the TJ's and with a family in my near future - it makes more sense. But then again....my TJ isn't around because it's practical

No I don't think that it's a problem. Some people who don't care for change don't like anything that is new. I can speak for myself, I like them, I don't care for the look in stock form but a lift and bigger tires make it for me. Just like Belfast said, most people here are courteous and this site is a pleasent place to be a member of. Now enjoy and let's see some pics.......

The new JK (2 or 4 door) is superior to our TJ's in every way except the engine and break-over angle (4-door only). The ability to go bigger on tires without as much lift is great for center of gravity, and your wallet. The electronic disconnect is outstanding.
The one thing I lament in my rig is how hard it is to climb into the back seat. This precludes taking older folks on rides. Like everybody else, I though the 2004 Unlimiteds looked quirky at first, until I saw one lifted, and saw the possibilities. And you just cannot beat that extra stability on the trail.
