Question folks, Will DC stop making Jeep Wrangler Unlimiteds in the near future, or will they continue to make the Unlimiteds just like the tradional Wrangler? A friend of mine at work who also has a Jeep Wrangler told me that hew had heard that the Wrangler Unlimited may only be a 3 year run. Is this possible folks? I hope not. Its a great truck. Your thoughts please..... Rich..

It may not make it as an 07 model. They are changing the Wrangler platform to be a TK instead of TJ. So...we'll just have to wait and see what happens. I kind of hope they discontinue it, so that I'll be one of the lucky few to own one!!

I was thinking the same thing, discontinue it so that I have a Jeep that might be rare someday like the Scrambler. I know, very selfish but oh well. I have a feeling that the Unlimited's won't be around too long. The auto folks like to make changes too often. Ridge

I've heard 4 doors. Kind of like a Wrangler and a Liberty "got it on" and the new one is a cross between the two.

Not sure I would like a cross betweeen a Wrangler and a Liberty. Its either or for me. IN 2001 I bought a Jeep Cherokee Sport, then the discontinued it.

There is actually a custom 4-door Wrangler that is rolling around New Jersey. It is a little odd looking but kind of cool in the same right. It is like you just stretched the TJ and added a second set of doors. AEV conversions make a stretched version, beyond the Unlimited length which is the platform of the Brute. Here is the link to their website www.aev-conversions.com/

The new Wrangler will have a frame and straight axles, so I don't know how that sounds like it's similar to a Liberty. There's supposed to be a few different models and wheelbases, including a four door that will be much bigger than the standard model. As for Unlimiteds being rare - I don't know for sure, but I'd bet they've already sold more Unlimiteds than they did in 5 years of Scramblers. Scramblers are rare because nobody wanted them when they were new.

The funny thing is, I have yet to see an unlimited on the road here in New Jersey. I have seen every jeep wrangler But an unlimited here in Southern New Jersey. I guess everybody is either garaging them or using them on the trails. But seriously, they are really nice trucks. Im probably going to switch my bumbers to standard TJ black bumpers. While I like the chrome tube bumbers, I just think my truck will look better with the standard TJ bumpers on it. I may take the tailite covers off as well. Definitely going to keep my side bars on tho. Thats the fun thing about jeep wranglers, there is so much you can do with them. Awsome trucks! Rich....

Where in South Jersey are you? I've already covered more than 21,000 miles of S.J. in my Unlimited, so I'm definitely out there. I didn't see many at first, but since last fall I see them pretty often. Of course, it seems like they are all Rubicons except mine.

there was a discussion on another board about the demise of the Unlimited, and per a DC employee, the Unlimited is NOT scheduled for the '07 release, inpart due to the release of the TK platform as mentioned earlier. DC is highly considering the 4 door version TK, though that is not definate yet. I am close with the owner of the local dealership in my small town, and he showed me a press release from Corporate stating the Unlimited was a considered vehicle for discontinuance..low

Would DC still make the normal size Wrangler tho? And if so, twould the body style be the same? My opinion is if it aint broke, dont fix it. The wrangler has a very successful SUv, why mess with it? Also, dosn't the new Commander look like the Jeep Cherokee Sport? Rich

One word.... MONEY.. Why continue making the 4.0 in a plant housing X number of employees, when you have another plant, that makes the 3.7 V6?? I'm not saying I think the 3.7 is better, but it is cheaper right?? AND they can use it across several other vehicles at DC. If I understand it correctly, the wranglers are the only vehicle left in the DC lineup that use the I6 4.0. For what its worth, I think that if they wanted to scrap the 4.0, they should just drop in a 4.7 or a HEMI and be done with it.. Imagine that, a stock Unlimited that came with a 5.7 HEMI (they do fit, I've seen it), heavy duty tranny and drivetrain, and Dana 60's on both ends... Now that rig could take some SERIOUS abuse. on the other hand, aren't the Feds requiring that all production vehicles have door airbags or something like thiat starting in the next few years? kind of hard to put an airbag in a door that comes off the vehicle.. So that's my two cents.. I don't know how much of this is accurate, but it makes sense to me.. Jack
