I traded my SWB for the LJ...the only thing I regret is the new monthly payment. My friends and family all agree that the Unlimited looks better on me since I'm a big guy. I think it makes me look slimmer:) I couldn't be happier.

Of course, I traded in a Ford SuperCrew, so I went from a pudgy guy in a big truck, to a fat guy in a little Jeep.

It just seems I am consistantly being slammed by some people on this board and I dont understand why? This is supposed to be a cool place to come to about our jeeps, not a place to come to to get slammed etc. One member here even said its time to raise the BS flag when my jeep got backed into a few weeks ago. I thought that was an inappropriate comment and took offense to that and some of the other comments that have been directed to some of my postings. I just dont understand it. Who's dog did I kick? Rich.. Just stop being such a drama queen and you'll be welcome here I'm sure.

Thats horseshit scrambler 81. Im not obsesing about anything. The salesman simply stated a fact. He deals with jeep customers all day long. I didnt say the unlimited looks uglt. he simply stated that most customers prefer not to have a long wheel base wrangler because some people feel they are ugly. Please get your facts straight my friend. I, personally feel they are not ugly. Would I prefer a short wheelbase wrangler.... No. Im happy with mine. I got mine out of the shop again today. Rich

I just picked up my new unlimited rubicon. In all my 55 years I have never owned a vehicle this cool, and I have had my share of muscle cars, luxury cars and trucks. I don't think it gets any better than a Jeep unlimited.

Hi Folks, Stopped in to my dealer this morning and ran into my salesperson and I got to be speaking with him and he advised me that Jeep Wrangler Unlimited sales have really dropped off. He said people are going after the swb wranglers bigtime, however. He said that a lot of the reason is the "look", not so much the price. Thats the second person in a month that has advised me that they would not buy an unlimited because of the look of the vehicle. He also said that people are not purchasing the 4cyl wranglers. Instead they want the 4.0 in the swb wrangler. Has anyone else ever complained about the look of our unlimiteds. The only real noticible differece to me is when your looking at the car from the side. From the front or the back it looks just like a swb wrangler to me. there was 8 unlimiteds on his lot and 2 swb wranglers. (One real nice rubikon and an se). Saw a Khaki colored unlimited there. very nice. First time i saw a khacki colored one up close. Do you guys ever hear people complain about the wrangler unlimiteds look? Ill say this, the unlimited drives like a cadillac compared to the swb wrangler. your thoughts? Rich I don't know what all the Rich bashing is all about. All the guy did was pass on comments a salesman told him. If you read his post he never states he believed anything the guy said. All he asked was did anyone else hear similar comments. We all have had people say things about our Jeeps, some good and some bad. We must all like the looks because we bought them. If you don't want to answer the question in his post the way he asked it, don't. But also don't twist things around and make him sound like some kind of "Chicken Little". Can't we all just get along?

Thanks for the defense moneypit. Thats what i have been trying to communicate but it seems some people here have a comprension problem and want to start trouble. Im tired of being bashed for no reason. If thats the kind of bard this is, then i want nothing to do with it. I didnt do anything to anyone. I have had a string of unfortunate circumstrancs and now this. I dont feel welcome here at all. Rich..

Everyone,
Please read Rich's original post again. I think some of us might have misinterpreted what he was trying to say.
Rich,
I have heard similar comments. I usually blow them off.
I think we can all agree that you have had a string of really crappy luck with your Jeep. I have no reason to think you would make any of it up for a laugh. I read your post a few times, and didn't get the same thing out of it that some on the board did. I can almost spot where this thread went from your passing on information that the dealer gave you to people assuming that was the way you felt.
Please, relax. We don't all think you meant that. For pete's sake, you have an entire sympathy thread for the crap that you have already been through, and more than a couple of Karma points for your trouble.
I wish you the best of luck with the newly fixed LJ, and look foward to seeing you on the board.

No matter what we drive, there will be someone who doesn't like it because it is to big, too small, too short or too long.
Lets be happy we have Jeeps, and maybe focus on the positive.
I know that I am just glad that I don't have to strap everything I own on the roof rack of my Yj in order to go camping with passengers.

This is really starting to sound like a group therapy session... Enough already Back on topic (and this is not an attack)... A salesman says to someone that sales aren't good. All (well most) car salesmen are crooks that will do anything to make another sale. They see someone with a weakness (i.e. Rich who has had nothing but problems with his rig...and is VERY impressionable) and they jump at the chance to make another dollar off of him. Yes sales at that particular dealership may be off...big freaking deal. Do you really want to see another car just like yours at every intersection... I know I don't....if that were the case I'd be driving a Toyota Camry or a Ford Ranger. I see on average about 3 to 5 other Unlimiteds on the road each week....they are the same ones every week. Does it or should it bother me??? Nope... I didn't buy it as an investment. I knew that it would be a daily driver/weekend warrior until it was paid off, and then it will become a toy. Will I sell it...nope. Most folks that have wanted a Jeep ALL THIER LIFE (like me) will hang onto their Jeeps for a very long time...at which point trade-in value no longer matters. If mine breaks, it'll get fixed...if it gets a dent on the trail, I will wear it like a badge of honor

I didn't read what everyone else has said thus far, but just my $.02 would be this: The SWB TJ's have been mass produced big time since '97 without much change. People who buy Unlimited's end up loving them, especially if they have owned a TJ prior to the LJ. People who don't care too much for the LJ's but are avid Jeep people will like the LJ's more and more, especially when the LJ's are getting older. Remember if you own a LJ you will have a Jeep that is only going to be produced from '04-'06 thats it. In my case, I have the Unlimited Rubicon which is only being produced from '05-'06. So these are going to be a rare find later and will be considered a collectors Jeep once they get to be a good 10-15yrs. old. I will be keeping mine until something forces me to sell it, which hopefully will not happen.
