;D Yeah!! I'm finally getting my Unlimited back tomorrow (today, it's after midnight). They got the alignment done this afternoon and sent it off to the detailing shop to get it all cleaned up and I should get it back finally! After mailing off my 2nd payment......it makes me sick...I've made my 2nd payment and it's been in the shop ever since I've made the first payment. It's been in the shop more than I've driven it .....Oh well. At least I'm getting it back. I'm ordering the Bushwacker fender flares, pocket style for it and it's got 33's on it already so once I get the fender flares on it, I'll get some pictures on it. Oh, my license plate reads.... MNZ LNGR ;D The wreck wasn't too bad. We were all o.k. Thank God for the longer back end or we would have been hurt. It was all crumple zone. We were only going 40 mph but we were high centered and had just crested a hill. I climbed a Dodge Durango.......all he got was a busted tail light and a YJ hit me from behind. Lucky we were not hurt any worse, just a stiff neck and the air bags did not deploy....but the damage was $9500+!

Ok....so the saga continues.....this has turned into an utter nightmare. So I go today to pick up my Unlimited at the body shop and I get there and I'm horrified at the state it's in. It's still dirty, missing windshield wipers, lights that go by my fender flares (I told them not to replace the fender flares because I'm putting aftermarket flares on their), so anyway....my husband notices that the paint doesn't match. Not only does the paint not match but they have wet sanded it! And they didn't even paint the left side, the damaged side. They just "spot" painted, where they did their repairs. It almost looks like a checker board pattern, that is how off the colors are. So we start noticing other things that are wrong, places they missed with the paint, all the fiberglass still on the inside....etc. etc. etc. Needless to say, I did not accept the jeep back in the condition that it was in and they took it back to detail it? ? Not sure exactly since their shop was closing up in about 30 min. They are calling me tomorrow to let me know what is going on. Another thing I noticed was that there are more scratches on the passenger side than there were when I brought it in! I believe it was from when they removed the hood, so they messed the paint up and they are going to have to fix it. The body shop is affiliated with the dealership we bought the jeep from so we spoke with the head honcho at the dealership and he said that if they don't get if fixed, they will take care of it. What a nightmare huh???

Body shops are never fun to deal with, too many variables both in the quality of the shop and in the type of damage with which they have to deal. On top of that, black is the worst color to try and match, it just never seems to look the same. I hope your insurance company hasn't released any money to the shop yet, just keep at them until you like it. Hope it all works out for you.

Well I've had it over the weekend to look over it with a fine tooth comb and compile my list of things that are wrong with it. I'm taking it back into the shop tomorrow (Tuesday) and they are going to finish the mess the started. No, the insurance has not paid them all the money owed to them yet. It's all supplemental work now. Right now as it stands, the damage has been over $10,000 to the vehicle. Now throw in the vehicle being repainted and all the stuff that has to be repaired and fixed that they messed up the first time. They might as well have totaled it in the accident. At least the body shop gave us the weekend to look over it and told us to make a list and they would start back in on it on Tuesday. They said it would take 3 days to repaint the entire vehicle. The blower motor has to be replaced because apparently it was damaged in the accident as well because when you turn on the AC it makes this real loud rattling noise now, so it will have to go over to the service dept. too. GEESH! I'll never get it back!
I'll keep everyone updated on the status!

When you think about, letting you go over it so you can point out what you see wrong is kinda crappy policy. They should just fix it the right way, so there is nothing wrong for you to find! They have had it apart and rebuilt it again, so you can bet they already know what is wrong. Anyway, just keep pluggin'.

So I took it back yesterday with my compiled list of 20 things that were wrong and we dealt with the guy in charge of our ticket and the manager. The manager was a total jerk about it, acted like he could really care less and said they would get it fixed but gave off the impression that he didn't really care if it got fixed or not. Made a copy of the list I had made and stood there nodding his head. I told them that it was a brand new vehicle and other than the damage from the wreck, it was in brand new condition when I brought it in there. He told me they were not responsible for the mess on the inside. My husband told them that they made the mess, they should clean it up. So we'll see when we get it back if the stuff is fixed. If it's not, all hell will break loose and I will go to the owner of the body shop/dealership and they won't want to deal with my issues then.

wow, good luck, let us know how it goes.
I agree with '81', they should give it back when done in a condition where you can't find anything wrong.

And the nightmare continues...... We go back today (Friday) because they tell us it's done! (I should have known that it was too soon). First of all it hasn't even been taken over to the service dept. to have the blower motor/AC fixed yet! Second, only 2 of the 20 things on my list were fixed! It's still filthy and they put TOUCH UP PAINT on my BRAND NEW UNLIMITED!!!! I went postal on them. I told them what I thought of their body shop, the quality of their work and that it better be ready Monday by 5 p.m. because this is the THIRD time that they have tried giving it back to me in POOR condition and that if it wasn't in the condition it should be, the owner of the dealership/bodyshop would be getting a call from me personally! So the saga continues................will keep you all posted!

Ok....the rest of the story (as Paul Harvey says)......
I have my Unlimited back, good as new. Well, not good as new, but you get the point. Finally got the body shop and the owner of the dealership to fess up and fix what they messed up. It took writing a letter to the BBB and threatening to tell the jeep association my hubby and I are a part of....what bad business they were. They fixed the mess ups. I still think they do bad business. It should have never taken that long, nor should they have returned it to me in that condition.........Poor poor customer service and work from them.
