what does everyone do with thier Hard tops for storage? I bought a Best Top HOSS cart but its too tall for my 8ft cielings in my garage. I have a 79 trans am stuffed in my garage too so I cant leave it laying on the floor.... Is it ok to store it out under my deck? jamie

This is what I do with mine. I have it hung in my barn. The same thing could be done from a garage ceiling. I just back in and ratchet it up with straps. Maybe you could try this and pull the Trans Am up under it.. The hood would be under the deep part of the top. You could leave it outside as well. Place it on a couple of 2x4 to keep it out of the dirt. Make sure it is secure since they are expensive to replace.

Great Idea...I think Im going to spend this weekend building a rack like you have and suspend it over the Trans AM.. Never thought of hanging it on the cieling. Thanks!

I hang mine in my garage: I can easily park under it in the summer and put a sheet of plywood on the 2x4's in the winter and use it as a hanging shelf. It was cheap to put together - probably ~$50 (it's been 5 years and I have long stopped keeping track of how much money has been put in to the Jeep). Everything can be found at Home Depot and put up with basic tools. I put pulleys at the top and have the cable doubled over so I can unhook it at the bottom of the hardtop and use it to raise/lower. I originally planned some counter-weighting system, but never got anything to work well enough. But my end goal was accomplished - secure, out of the way storage that allows me to take the top on and off by myself (still a major PITA, but I can manage twice a year).
