My 2005 unlimited has a loud engine knocking noise at low speed and in reveries. Goes away as I accelerate. What is it or is the noise just normal for the six cylinder gearing?

Are you sure its the engine and not transmission? Does it happen when you are in park or neutral? If it doesn't happen in park/neutral, have you recently engaged/disengaged 4wd? I have heard some knocking noises if you don't fully engage or disengage the 4wd, but never had it happen for any extended period of time.
