Seems like everyone is taking time off from their toys and I'm one of the few who did the opposite. I drove 1,400 miles from New Jersey down to North Carolina last weekend and loved every minute of it. Sure I paid $3.85 per gallon but it was all worth it to me. My stock 2008 JK averaged around 24mpg on the highway and I couldn't be happier.
On a side note, I was wondering how much of a lift I could or should think about for it before it just looks dumb and unsafe with the stock 18" tires?

I retired from my public school job and should receive my first check in July. I have obtained a teaching job in a private school so should be ok money wise. I am in the process of moving which is a major pain, we are moving into a house which my mother left me, for every trip of furniture from my house to my mom's old house, I have to make 2 trips to the dump. Not enough room for everything. I moved my boat today, It took 16.2 gallons of fuel to move the boat 108 miles, I was fighting a 20 to 30 mph headwind most of the way. The boat is an 18 foot pontoon, which has a terrible wind load. Anyway it is moved and no telling how long it will be until I get to use it.

Well....I can't top that story. Just been working in my yard, and spending some time getting acquainted with my new street bike ('07 Yamaha V-star 1300). Gotta love getting between 45 and 50 mpg. The Jeep is closer to becoming more of a toy than a commuter vehicle.

Mars, hope all is well. That is some scary sh!t man... Glad your still here. I've been busy with end of the year school business....the kids smell the summer just around the corner and it makes trying to teach a real pain in the A$$. I'm on my last Graduate class, and of course it's my hardest....I have a 40 pg. Quantative research paper due on July 1st. Topic: How the integration of art across the curricula can enhance student performance and learning. Sounds fun huh? Just got out last weekend to the Badlands with Northern Illinois Extreme Jeep Club and had a great time! It was nice to be back out on the trails. The rest of the summer is dedicated to a "honey do" list that is constantly growing?! Basically house stuff. Hopefully in between all the work on the house, I can sneak away to paint for awhile here or there. Take care all! ryan

Went wheelin 2 weeks ago for the first time this year. Did the www.trjc.com sping Safari run. Had a great time with about 120 other Jeepers. They have another run in August I am going to try and make. But I am also involved with a total kitchen redo. Right now it is gutted down to the studs. I have already put in the support beam and removed some walls. I has happy when I cut out the old walls and the house stayed standing. Now I just have to put it all back together! Hope everyone has a great summer.

I wish I had great stories like the rest of you. Work has kept me busy and the rain has kept me from doing just about everything. My neighbor had a graduation for his kid which cause me to spend way too much time working on my yard to please my wife and not be "that guy" in the neighborhood. i got out and hit some golf balls, and a little wheeling in April.

Sucks to hear that Mars, but get better soon. I've got another trip lined up this weekend at Pismo with a bunch of other rigs which will be cool as I've never been there before.

I had my hernia surgury yesterday. I haven't needed any of the pain meds the doc gave me. I'll be laying low and doing nothing for 2 weks now. Maybe I can follow it with some vacation.

I haven't been around for a while. Work has me totally consumed lately. Hopefully I will get some time to work on my Jeep here soon. Just replaced my windshield last week due to a rock that cracked it on 695 in Baltimore.
On the bright side, I passed my Fundamentals of Engineering test!
Hope everyone else is doing well.

Yep, I'm ready My LJ will be at Cassidy's Customs vendor booth at the show most of the weekend. Jeremy wants my rig to display the front and rear bumper and sliders he made for me... I have some guests coming in from Uniontown for the show.
