Figure y'all can move this as needed, but since this was a true reveal in all it's glory, I thought it should be listed front and center. The guys over at JU got a hold of a magazine with a good reveal, including pics and some specs. It's scanned in and posted... Thought you'd like to see (if you haven't already!) www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/showthread.php?t=700827Edited to fix the link...Sorry about that...

OK...I see it now. A lot nicer than I imagined it. I'm interested...in the unlimited of course.

Nice looking, I agree. Better than I feared, as well.
I just called my local dealer, from whom I've bought my last three cars. He happens to be a jeep dealer because I was looking at the "new" 97 TJ when it came out. Ended up buying the Miata and two other cars from him.
Anyway, I asked about my big concern with the 07, whether the Unlimited would have a 2 door and a 4 door version. He doesn't know yet. He told me the earliest he would likely have any definitive information was July. And this is the owner, not just some sales dweeb.
So, I'm real torn. At worst I guess I can wait until he knows there will or will not be a 2 door version of the unlimited. It's pretty apparent that the one I've seen in spy pics is a 4 dr. I just hope they're not just making the unlimited in 4 dr flavor.
Anyway, we shall see. For now that I can't get Beryl Green special order, unless an 06 beryl green LWB falls in my lap, I'll wait until I can order one of the first 07s, assuming I can get it in 2 dr.
sigh.

D'oh. Yesterday, I just looked at the pics. Today, I went back and zoomed in on the pics to read the article.
According to the article, there will be a 2 dr unlimited from day one and the 4 dr unlimited would be introduced later in the year. So, that's a relief.
BUT, the cool news is, that the hard top is modular. Apparently you can take of the 3 side and back panels so you can have it pretty open air but still have some coverage.
Since the sun is brutal where I live, my plan was to make a full length cover so I could do exactly like you see in a lot of african safari jeeps. The sides are open but there's shade.
Plus, it will supposedly come with a tall and short door option! And the fenders will be removeable ala the doors. Very interesting.
The article also mentions the 3.8 L V8 which has been discussed here, will be the standard engine on all models. Apparently it's the same engine used in the Pacifica and develops 5 hp more than the 4I currently being used.
And, for you rubi fans, the Rubi will come with 32" tires and will have 3 skid plates, now.
Sweet, very sweet.
Well, I'm sold. It looks like I'm going to be a wannabe until the 07s come out. I'm not in love with the new look yet, but I'm not as disappointed as I expected to be. I hate to buy a first year model, but since things aren't coming together to get one as fast as I'd like, I'll probably end up waiting till May anyway. A few more months won't matter.
Have a most excellent weekend.

For those of us who can't wait to see the new Wrangler, check out: www.jrations.com/They are supposed to be unveiling the new Wrangler at 12:01 am on January 9th. That's Sunday morning. It could be pure marketing hype, or they may actually have something interesting to show.

I beleive that the 2-door unlimited will no longer exist! That was my impression, but the article most definitively stated, 2 dr first, 4 dr announced later. But then when have magazines ever been wrong... Looking forward to finding out, hopefully before all the 06 lwb are gone.

www.jeep.com has some good information and photos - can't find anything about an Unlimited version though - but I do like the new SWB one! edit - if you click on the Full Specifications link you get an Adobe attachment - one of the specs list 5 passenger seating with 60/40 split, fold flat, rear seat on Wrangler Unlimited plus 16 inch rims, 32 Inch tires standard, rear head restraints {thanks for joing the 21st century DC} and the most curious one - a single hinge center pivot windshield....

From what I read, the 32" wheels are standard on the Rubicon. Be nice if they were standard on every model, though.
and the most curious one - a single hinge center pivot windshield....
AAah, that's how they're going to handle the new "curved" windshield. I was wondering how that would work...
