It's supposed to warm up here, but we're getting rain first. I got a hard top hoist for Christmas, I gotta get that sucker up this weekend so I'm ready for good weather.

Ya'll need to come visit me. It has hit 80 several times already this year here. Now I just gotta figure out how to get my doors off without ruining the nuts. Any suggestions?

Good plan, I'll give that a go. I didn't want to scuff up the paint on them (who's bright idea was that?!) and none of my sockets would fit properly due to the paint. I knew there was a solution out there somewhere.

I wish it was about time here in Colorado. We go from 75 degrees a few days ago to waking up to snow and a high of 35 today. Now it is starting to warm up again. Is it true that if you take the top all the way down on a warm day and try to put it back up after it has gotten cold that it that top shrinks?

I dont think it shrinks but its almost like if you had 2 peices of rubber and one was in the heat and one was in the cold the one in the heat would stretch better! oh well that was my lame attempt of describing it!

Yes, like a lot of materials, it contracts in the cold. It also becomes less flexible. The soft top on my CJ is an old snap design - trying to stretch that out when it's cold is brutal. If you lay it out in the sun a while, it will help a bit.

Snowing here today... warmed up to 40 degrees and turned to rain for a bit, now it's cooling off and turning back to snow again...crazy weather for March in the Portland, OR area.

Im in trouble, took hardtop off 3 weeks ago, it turned cold. Had a really hard time putting up the soft top. Going on spring break next week, wife wants the hard top, I want the soft top, I want to run topless during spring break, weather here has turned cold, so not sure now. Still have trouble pulling the plastic tabs out of the channels, havnt tried the sunroof yet., Maybe this coming week, will let you know. Got maybe 1/4 in of rain today, yipeee, first rain in 5 months, unusual for oklahoma, later.

I'm not 100% sure but I think its against the laws of nature to have the hard top on while on spring break.....just think of how envious you would get if you were cruising somewhere, nice day, on vacation, no work, no worries.....and a Jeep goes by with the top down and there you are stuck with the hard top on.....I'd be ready to chuck it on the side of the road.... edit: I guess I'm assuming that you are going someplace warm for spring break - if you are going skiing or something like that, tell your wife I'm sorry and I agree with her completely!!!!

I'll bet I saw 500 jeeps on the island this past weekend. It was the island's St. Patty's day celebration so we had quite a turnout. All jeeps I saw either had the top off completely (80+ degrees) or had the hard top on. I know those guys with the hard tops were hating it. Personally I took the top down and cruised around enough to get a nice sunburn.
