Since joining, I have seen several references to a an end to the TJ model run. Of more concern to me is the fact that I have seen references to the Unlimited only running two yrs. I love the wrangler, but could not drive the SWB. It wasn't until the Unlimited came out that it had everything I needed. Can anyone tell me what's going on with the Wrangler and Unlimited? Is 07 going to be just a redesign of the marque, or will the unlimited go away entirely like the Scrambler before it? This is fairly important to me, since I do not yet have the Unlimited I want and if I need to get one before they stop making them, I have some issues to address. Thanks for any input you can provide. cheers. edit: oh man, I found this: www.autonews.com/article.cms?articleId=42394Which is fine, if you want a truck. But I want the unlimited's capacity for 4 seats. The article says the new scrambler is primarily for European military use and hasn't even been confirmed for retail. Has anyone heard anything more about this? www.thecarconnection.com/index.asp?DID=RSS&n=178&sid=178&article=8684

You might note that the scrambler article was written in Feb 2003, suggesting it would be selling in 2004. I'm guessing that prognostication didn't pan out.
I've certainly heard rumors of a long and short wheelbase TK in 2007. However, those are rumors too.
It's certainly a gamble. Get the Unlimited or take door number 2. If you really want to hedge your bets, you could wait until next summer and get some real information on what the TK line will look like. If it doesn't include a long one, have a dealer locate a 2006 LJ for you somewhere.

The new Wrangler will be unveiled in Detroit in January at the NAIAS, and has 2 and 4-door variants. www.autoblog.com/entry/1234000087069598/The new Wrangler will be a 2007 model, with the current Wranglers ceasing production on July 21, 2006, and production switching over to the new models thereafter. (allpar.com) If you look at the forums on allpar, someone got their hands on the production schedule for next year and posted it, confirming the dates and that there were two Wrangler models. The production schedule uses codes for model information, but it seems likely that the two Wrangler designations refer to 2 and 4-door. Check out the News & Rumor forum here for a link to spypics of both. I wouldn't worry about the ability to pick up an LJ into next year, if anything you might be able to get an even better deal in anticipation of the new Wranglers.

Thanks Fellas,
I'm going to watch this one carefully. From your links, it appears the unlimited will be replaced with a 4 door version. Looks like the two door unlimited might only be a two yr phenomenon.
I guess I'd better get on the stick and get my house in order so I can still get a 06.

I am pretty good friends with my sales manager who just came back from Vegas, where he saw the 2007 tk's.
There will be a swb and a lwb. The lwb is a four door, and I think he said about the same size as the unlimited.
He also said that there was not a body panel the same as the tj.
The rubicon models will have an electronic disconnect for the front swaybar, similar to the Powerwagon.
He also thought that the suspension was new and a little more like a long arm kit than the current tj's.
That's all I have. He said we would have them here in Canada by late next summer.
Anyone have any other info???

Well, that nails it. Unless they did the back doors waaaay cool, I'm not interested in a 4 dr LWB. I think the current LWB is just perfect. I don't even own one yet and I see a SWB and think it looks stubby.
2006, it is. Some how, some way.
