I have been getting charges on my verizon wireless bill that have "blinko" written beside them. I havent noticed them before a few days ago. I have been just paying my bill and not realizing I have been paying for this unauthorized charges. I called verizon 3 times in one night and all of them said yep they are un-authorized but you have to pay them. I told them I was not gonna pay them and to shut my phone off. I had been receiving these spam type text messages that I would just delete off my phone. Little did I know that just opening up and reading the text message was charging me $9.99. Thats right.....all you have to do is open the phone up and READ the message and you get billed. To make a long story short this is illegal what they are doing. There is a word for this called "cramming"! This scam has been going on for some time now as far as I could research on the net. Verizon has not blocked the company from sending these texts and I'm not the only one with this problem. I've notified the BBB, FTC, Attorney General, and last night I went to file a report with the MD sheriffs department. Since i never went and spoke to the Verizon store here where i live, the state police want me to go talk to them this morning. If I'm not satisfied he said to call him or bring the guy in charge of customer service down to the station. I have a pile of papers I have printed off the internet about this ongoing problem and the laws that make this illegal. Just watch you cell bills and if you dont use text messaging you can have all texts blocked which is what I will be doing when I get my new NEXTEL phone!
If you want to read mor about the scam you can go here. The M-Qube company that is mentioned is the middle man between verizon and blinko. There is NO way to get ahold of anyone from blinko except by email. www.jamsterscam.com/more_stories/
I hope no ones had this happen to them but if you have and need advice let me know because I've already researched everything possible about this!
