I'm a bigtime Parrothead Any other Parrotheads out there? If not, what kind of music do you listen to? What's in the palyer now? What do you listen to on the trails? Do you have special "trail mix" CD's too?

Sirius Satellite Radio, Octane #20
I have not bought a CD in over 3 years since I got Sirius, I dont think I have ever used the CD player in my Jeep or my past vehicle.

#29 on Sirius is the Blues station. In the CD player is Beck's relatively new disc-"Guero". I have very eclectic music tastes. All depends what mood I'm in. 93.1 WXRT is a great Chicago radio station. About anything you'd hear on there, I enjoy listening to.

I like all kinds of music. Saw a concert last night called BEATLEMANIA.What a show! These guys looked so much like the beatles and sounded like them as well. They played to a sold out crowd in NJ. Downright incredible show! Rich..

I had Sirius installed in my wife's car and I haven't had a reason to use the CD player yet either. I listen to a lot of talk radio when I am driving and you can get pretty much anything you could think of on that radio. I don't know how I ever got along without it.
I also got an MP3 player from Dell with an FM transmitter. I don't even plan on upgrading the CD player components in the Jeep when I get it (except for the 7 speaker thing). You can put hundreds of hours of music on that thing and it never skips and you never have to change a CD. Makes a 6 disc changer seem like an 8 track (though at my age, I have no idea what an 8 track does either).
Otherwise, I listen to just about everything as well. Currently on a Frank Sinatra kick, but country, reggae and Buffet are always on tap as well. About thing only thing I can't stand is pop music from the 50s and 60s. Down with the oldies station!
take care, Chris

You're too young to quite know what an 8-track is but you're on a Sinatra kick? You're a complicated one, Chris. Sadly, I remember 8-tracks. I'm a metal man myself. The classics for me are Ozzy, Priest, and Van Halen. I just love cruising around in the evening, doorless and topless, with Crazy Train rocking my soundbar.

LOL....I actually still have an 8 track recorder and blank 8 tracks.... 8 Track player was the head unit of my first car (was replaced with a CD player - see...I skipped the cassette generation...LOL)
I've been seriously contemplating the Sirus/XM radio....our you guys putting in a new radio or just hooking into the stock unit?

I have it as a factory option in my 06, an aftermarket (Kenwood) stereo in my 97 and an add on controller in my Lexus wired into the factory stuff. All 3 work great.. I personally like the factory look myself.. less crap for thieves to want to steal.

I went to Soundtrack and had them put in a stereo that is Sirius ready. It is a pretty nice one. I hear you can also get one with just the receiver instead of having to replace your stereo/CD system. It just sits in a holder. You can then take out the receiver and bring it in the house and attach it to a portable radio.
In the Jeep I ordered, I got the option to install the Sirius ready stereo as a part of the stock stereo system.
I don't know much about XM but I hear that there is better programming on Sirius. I personally love the thing. I haven't taken it out on a long drive yet, but I actually look forward to it because of the whole Sirius thing.
Kind of like going from dial up to broadband. You won't want to go back to the old ways.

I listen to whatever tunes are on the airwaves. Other than that, I have my MP3 with FM transmitter, and about a year's worth of music to listen to.
