Well, I bought my 1st geocahing travel bug. It's like a dogtag with the website, logo, a saying & a code on it. The owner (in this case, me) activates it on the www.geocaching.com site, this generates its own webpage where you set a goal for it, pictures are posted of people who find it, they can enter logs, etc Here is the page for my bug: www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=107472I haven't released it yet, I plan to in October during a 4x4 run I will be attending. Its' goal is to make it to the Rubicon trail & back ;D

Geocaching is AWESOME!! My family and I started doing this back about 3 months ago and we love it. It's great for the whole family and do we have some stories of some of the places we've stumbled through looking for these caches! We've actually gotten a jeep travel bug, they are really neat! We have gotten several travel bugs and dropped them off in several locations. We have been following a cache called "Follow the Rubicon Trail" in our area and you have to have some kind of 4 wheel drive vehicle to get to them and they progressively get harder. They are in our area, Northern VA, and they are placed by a buddy of ours....but this hobby gets quite addicting. We have even done this while visiting family in Illinois and Indiana as well. Our log name is Hunden04, so if you go to geocaching.com and look for us, you can see where we've been! You should try it if you haven't done it, it's really fun.....the fall is the best time to do it, when the poison ivy/oak/sumac has died down.

I'm placing it at a cache I'll be visiting this weekend in Virginia & will let y'all know where in case any of you want to try to find it & help it on its mission (more to come, stay tuned)

I got turned onto this "sport" when I was still in the Philly area. It is a great way to see parts of your hometown that you never knew existed. And it is a great family activity. If I could only find one of those dang TJ travel bugs.
