I finally got notification of admittance into chicago police academy!!! I applied june '03 and had a feeling it was going to be pretty soon - that's why I got the jeep. I new I'd need reliable transportation soon! I know there's a lot of military guys or fans here, maybe even a few in enforcement. I am out in kentucky fishing where the cell phone doesn't work so you are the first to find out!! I needed to tell SOMEONE.
wish me luck!

I am one of the first to see this (I think: Big time difference means everyone else is asleep), so I get to be the first to congratulate you. I have a huge respect for police officers and law enforcement. You guys put it on the line everyday back home so we can all lead peaceful lives. Believe it or not, you guys are one of the reasons we have it so great back in America especially compared to the situation I am witnessing now. It is all the more evident. So congrats and THANK YOU!

Congratulations! Man, that's a long time to wait. Why did they make you wait so long?
I'd love to hear the reasons you want to be a cop. I'm always interested in hearing why people choose harm's way as a way of life.

Congratualtions. My Dad spent a most of his career in Law enforcement, so obviously, you guys have my respect. Keep those Chicago streets safe, and try not to write too many citations for oversized tires.

thanks fellas, the long wait is due to the outsourcing of the testing processes (in order to curtail corruption in hiring). between each test i'd wait about 4 months or so. then, just my luck, my random number was high putting me at the end of that group's line.
appreciate the thoughts and don't worry RubiRed - i don't see myself as much of a ticket-writer.

Congrats! I know it is a long process to go through. I've been a Firefighter for 13 yrs and when I was hired, it took a year or so to go through the hiring process. I was in the first class on the list. The second and third class had to wait at least 2 yrs. But its worth it all the way. Its quite an accomplishment when you compete against thousands and they pick you. Again, Congrats!
