Hello,
I'm new to the Jeep family and would love to get my family out into the mountains. I noticed the Big Bear Jamboree is coming up in May.
While I'm an outdoor guy...I have two problems: 1. the women in my family, wife / 15 yr old daughter....are NOT outdoor people. 2. I've never really "jeeped" before as a driver.
I have a couple questions:
1. Is there an "easy" route for "city folk" ? 2. If "the girls" absolutely hate it and HAVE to go home or my marriage is over, can I do that? 3. Any suggestions on "warm up" routes I can take them on to get them used to being dusty and dirty?
Thanks, Matt

My wife is a total "City Girl" too. She has had fun on both of the Jamborees that we've gone on. You should find some local trails (or just fire roads) to get them used to being "off road".
Also...make sure that they are comfortable going to the bathroom in the woods. That was my wife's biggest hang-up. But...when you have to go, you have to go.
There's always an easier trail run on each day.
You've just got to make it as comfortable and fun as you can for them. Bring snacks, put one in charge of taking pictures, and another in charge of the CB. As long as they are busy, they're having fun. Invest in some individual wrapped hand-wipes so that they can wash their hands/faces on the trail.
There are so many people at the Jamborees that have never been off road before, and they all make it thru with no issues. The guides do a very good job.

That is great advise by nwquadriders. I have been to several JJ and still can't get my wife to go. The peeing in the woods is her deal breaker. The only thing I could add is start off on the easier trails till you and the girls are comfortable. There is no better place to learn then at a JJ. If they hate it you leave. Just let then know if you leave so they don't look for you.
