First time jeep owners here: Has anyone gone on the Arch Canyon, UT. Jamboree? Anyone thinking about going? The 17th annual is in April. My wife and I are really anxious to go on one of these jamborees. Looking over next years schedule this seems like a good one to start with. Not too far away time wise. It's about 1200 miles distance. I would seriously like to do the Rubicon trail in August but our jeep is a stock 2006 Rubicon Unlimited and the trail is rated a 10. We're not really in a position to do a bunch of mods yet. My wife isn't thrilled with idea of driving a rented Neon back home. Seems like the dealer mentioned free towing if it breaks? Just kidding of course. It would also be great to do Moab. Seems like several from this board went last year. It would be nice to see some of you. Anyone have plans for next year? Do these trips fill up fast?

The trips don't ever officially sell out. But we've always signed up early and reserved a hotel room at the same time, just because hotel space (or at least decent hotel space) comes at a premium in some of these smaller towns. I'd say if you're signed up by mid to late January, you'll be fine. You can always email/call Jeep Jamboree and see if they have a limit on entries and how many are left. They are very responsive to emails during the work week.
This year, we're skipping doing a Jamboree and using that money to build up my Jeep for next year. I'm going to attend a few local (Oregon and Washington) Jamboree type events this year and learn a little bit more about local wheeling areas.
But next year (2008) we're going to head for Big Bear, or Black Hills. Maybe something else if we find a more local one.

Let me know if you find anything good locally or in Wash. I'd like to find something similar to these Jamboree's closer to home.

I have been to several Jeep Jamborees. There is no greater way to get started. They make sure you learn the right way to use your Jeep based on your skill level. But maybe the best part is being joined by a hundred plus other Jeeps. I have not been to any of the JJ out West because of the distance, but some day I want to do the Rubicon as well. I feel I need more seasoning before that one. It's sort of the Holy Grail of wheelin! Good luck and enjoy your Jeep.
