Hey Bikertrash...here is a pic on the hatch hinge I used. There is a seal just like auto door jamb seal that goes under the hatch lip between the side of the trailer and the hatch. It is not on in this picture yet. The hatch lifts up from the bumper area. I do not have any hatch support yet. To lock the hatch I have a locking TEE handle like a garage door uses, with 2 steel rods that lock into the sides when the hatch is closed. Believe me, this can be done by anyone. Many people use a Harbour Freight or Red Trailer as a begining and build up from there. But since you can weld you can make your own. I learned everything on the website listed above. There are even free plans on there. Spend some time reading and maybe you will convince yourself to go for it. It's been lots of fun so far. I hope useing is is just as fun.

That is a fantastic l'il trailer. I, too, recently sold a 24 ft trailer, but sure would love to have what you're building. I think my wife would kill for something like that. SWEET! ;D

Thanks. Check out the website I listed above and see all the cool little trailers people are building. It's remarkable what some guys have done with simple hand tools ect. Not that hard to build and light enough to pull behind the LJ.
