Yep...it's kind of a bummer that they don't do it somewhere central, or do an east coast and a west coast event.... That's why we have gone with Jeep Jamboree USA...it's still an all Jeep event, and it's catered to familes.

Only 10 hours away from me. That is way better than I thought it would be. That is only about two and a half tanks of gas away. Woohoo.

I would think Kentucky/Tennessee for east coast and Colorado for west coast would be perfect - if you cut the US in half and draw a line from corner to corner, thats pretty much the center of both halves....

Hey, come on! Finally something close to Chicago. You other guys are spoiled. There is no place to wheel around here. Every time we want to wheel we have to drive at least 3 hours. Elkhart Lake Wisconsin is only about 45 minutes north of the Illinois border. Thats not very far into WI. The whole midwest can come.

I know, we just had so much fun at last years in the Poconos that I was hoping to make it a yearly thing. I thought about a Jeep Jamboree but I have two sons who are 11 and 12, they enjoyed all of the extra stuff that Camp Jeep offered.

Joe, are you down by Norfolk, or up closer to Pittsburgh. If you are up north, you are still only looking at 13 hours of driving...I'm just glad it isn't in AZ or CA. I would never be able to go.

We are at the very top - about 15 miles south of the border w/ West VA - according to MapQuest its about a 15 hour drive or so - my biggest fear is that I would be two days from home and break something on my Jeep. I told my wife if I can trailer it out and back we are going. Funny, they held it in Virginia {about 90 minutes from my house} for years and I didn't own a Jeep, I buy one and they move it...my luck I guess!!!!

I wouldn't worry too much about breaking something and not being able to get home. They have an army of mechanics to fix whatever problem comes up on the trail. You could always stick to the "Scenic" trail also. I think with my wife going this time, I may need to do that so she doesn't have a heart attack.
I am already eager to go.

You guys that are local to this & for sure plan on going should start a thread to plan a contingient of LJ's from here! just an idea (although I won't be able to make it I'd sponsor your group- to help get the word out, etc) I'm not just saying that idlely, it would help our group here grow & maybe get some exposure, etc. I don't want to make it an official W.U.com event because we are still too young of an org- but in the future I sure hope to move in that direction. Let me know if this interests you guys that are planning on going.

At last years I saw a big area over by the ski lifts that looked like a makeshift garage but I thought it was for the trail guides - I thought you were responsible for anything breaking on your Jeep. Do they just offer parts and help or will they actually fix things? This may change everything!!!!!

I can't say with 100% certainty, but I believe that they pulled you there for U-Joints, etc broken on the trail, and had a bunch of dudes there to fix your rig and get it back on the trail ASAP.
And I am definitely going, barring a natural disaster of epic proportions.
WUnlimited - What all would be involved for sponsoring?

Originally, I'm from near Elkhart Lake. (relatively speaking) Elkhart Lake / Road America is in the heart of Wisconsin's Kettle Moraine District. Geologically speaking it's where all the debris the glaciers were digging up and pushing in front of them got dumped when they melted.
Lots of rolling hills, large boulders and gulleys. Should be a lot of fun. road america is an awesome race course and the hills around it should offer plenty of jeep thrills.

Pretty straight forward (IF) there is camping & you all congregate I'd send a banner of some sort with you all. I've seen this with other groups, CJ-8.com, etc.. Plus event stickers & TShirts for those that went. Maybe a sign up sheet & or flyers for other LJ owners Probably wouldn't cost me more then 2-250 for roughly 12-15 people~ It would be good exposure for the group & site so I'd be more then happy to front that

Let me know how I can help. I work for a company that decorates promotional products...we don't do T-shirts, stickers, or any wearables unfortunately. But we may have something useful. If you were lucky enough to go to Camp Jeep in the Pocono's and bought the four sets of wiper blades in the Retail tent, you would have gotten one of our duffel bags for free. The name of our company is on the zipper. Pretty cool place to see some my company's product. I was suprised enough that I snapped this photo for posterity.
