So my buddy and I decided to load up the wives in the Jeeps and hit Brown's Camp today... MASSIVE CARNAGE on HWY 6.... There were 4 cars in the ditches/into other cars as we got close to the top of the pass...emergency crews were there so we kept on truckin'. There was a good 4" to 6" of fresh snow up on top out in the trails. So, we hit a couple of the open trails on the Jeeps and then came upon this pore schmuck with a busted hub way stuck in the ditch. So, out came the winch. I had Aaron keep the RPM's up so as to not kill my battery. Had to strap the back end of my Jeep onto something...up the hill I hiked and hooked myself to a tree. It took a bit of persuasion, and me yelling at the driver of the Ford to let me do all the work with the winch since all we could hear was the popping of his hub any time he got on it...very nasty sound!!! But...one pull and he was out....then he almost backed down the hill into Aaron's blue Jeep down below... Didn't get much of a thank you...but at least I didn't leave that pour sucker out in the snow to freeze his nuts off

Yep, I'm glad I did it....it was a good test of my recovery gear, and I'd hope that someday if I'm in need that someone else will come by and help me out...He did say that 3 other rigs drove by and didn't stop...

I've pulled a number of people out of traffic with my tow strap. One was blocking a middle lane on I-10, just where I-17 dumps onto it, creating a huge mess. A DPS officer ran blocker for me while I towed the Suburban to the next exit and into a parking lot. The owner and the officer were very greatful.
I kicked myself a couple weeks later when I passed up a similar situation in nearly the same spot. This time it was a Greyhound bus. Think how cool that would have been to tow a bus off the road with my Jeep. I know it would have worked in 4-low.
Even if the guy didn't show his thanks, you did the right thing. This is good for all Jeepers.

wheelin' with a bass boat? he's gotta be cracked. I see stuck peole all the time around here (chicago drivers = very bad). I'm thinking of stealing someone's idea I read here or on JU forums about slating a liability release waiver and keeping a few copies in the glove box with a pen. nothin like un-stucking a beamer just to have him sue you for damage right?
what kind of tow straps you guys using to pull?
