It's funny, when I was out wheelin with a group, most people would ask me if I had any trouble with the longer wheel base. Very seldom did I need a 3 point turn. I had some advantages in other areas where the short wheel base guys had problems. I went where the Rubi guys went, without lockers at the time. Most of getting thru or over an obstical is driver skill and less about the equipment he has. The last run I was on had several Rubi front axle failures. I think a lot of guys think they are driving tanks. The Unlimited is very capable of holding it's own.

I would recommend you take the steps off when wheeling at a minimum...or you might be shopping for a new set of rocker guards to cover up the damage...ahem.

I like my steps, and have been offroad once in the almost 4 months I've had it. winter will be super busy (police academy), so I'm not gonna worry about it now. why don't you guys set up a benefit party in my favor and get me a set of jeeperman trail skidz just for he hell of it?

That's the best idea I've ever heard I wheeled my unlimited in some pretty tough stuff with the factory steps on it. You just have to be really careful in the off camber stuff. There were a couple of times where I had my steps just "kiss" the dirt/stump/rock... But, I just backed up a foot or so and changed my line a bit and didn't mess them up. Now my stupid plastic bobbers on the ends of my rear bumper have taken a bunch of abuse...this kid needs a high clearance rear bumper...and to ditch my reciever hitch... So when we're done getting you your rocker guards, I'd like to have a benefit for a new rear bumper for yours truly
