After spending some time, and a good bit of dough, getting the Unlimited set up to tow our camper, we finally got a weekend to take it camping. We ascended from Phoenix (1000') to the Mogollon Rim (7200'). Some of the hills were a strain with 3.73 gears and 33" tires, but we made it, and had a great time. Averaging 7.5 to 8 MPG going up the mountain was crappy, but gas is cheap, right?

Did you pull that with the KOZ bumper? 3.73 gears!! I thought all Unlimited ran 4.10s, guess you learn something new every day.

That trip sucks the gas on any vehicle. Was there major power loss on the incline, avg. speed?

Yes, I towed it with the KOZ bumper. I also tried to pull a downed pine tree, which only accomplished 4 nice holes in the ground. All the Unlimited's have 3.73 gears except the Rubi's.
The steepest inclines dropped us down to around 40 MPH. Regearing just got a little more interesting.

That's weird. On Jeep.com they say that ALL Unlimiteds come with 3.73 gears with the exception of the Rubicon Unlimiteds that come standard with 4.10's ?

does it have a locker too? I guess there could have been a mix up but.... what does it have in front. If you were running 4.10s and 3.73s in front wouldnt there be some major issues? Have you had it in 4wd yet? Check out your front axle also. If it says 3.73 I would get to the stealership ASAP.

If I found out that 4.10's were an "off the menu" option, and didn't get them, I'd be bummed. I really want 4.56's, but 4.10's would certainly be better than 3.73's with my tires and lift.
