Just wondering if anyone on here will be attending any of the Jeep Jamboree USA events this Summer?? My wife and I will be attending the Jamboree in Wallace, Idaho in late July. I did an ATV Jamboree there back in 2000, and have dying to go back. Really pretty country out there, tons of trails, abandoned silver mines, etc...

That sounds like fun. What is the date? I've got a busy summer planned but I might be able to squeeze it in. I've been to that area a few times and you're right, it's great up there. I'd like to see more Jamborees in Idaho or pacific northwest. Ridge

They run a Jeep Jamboree here in Jersey, but I have never done it. Paying all that cash to run trails I've been driving for 25 years just seems pointless. I've got a place booked for Camp Jeep up in the poconos this summer, that looks like a good time.

Since there was no Camp Jeep planned for the West Coast, I picked Idaho. The "Big Bucks" ($250/person) isn't that bad considering that all of your meals are included in that price. But, I suppose if it were on the same trails that I always play on, I wouldn't want to pay to play either. $500 + Hotel + Gas is a cheap vacation for my wife and I.

Hey S81, do you know if there are any trail maps or such for running trail in the Barrens. I am thinking about taking the wife down there to play a bit. Thanks... G

I've always been more of a "keep driving till you come out" kind of guy, but I'm told you can pick up maps at the ranger station. The station is on Route 206 in Shamong, across the street from Atsion Lake at the entrance to Wharton State Forest. I read on a different board that JP Magazine mentioned Wharton in the current issue, and included where to get maps. However, the guy writing the post wasn't happy about the article, so he didn't include the details in his post.

I know this is about a month after the original post, however, i did attend the Palo Duro Jeep Jamboree in Amarillo Texas. It was a blast, lots of great trails of every difficulty, friendly people and good food. I would highly recommend a Jamboree and would luv to attend one up in Idaho or Pacific Northwest......but its sooo far from Texas.....i need to move.....lol...

Hey Everyone, I am new to this forum. Just picked up my 2004 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited last week. I love it. I would love to come to a Jeep Jamboree. Summer schedule is busy but would love to try and squeeze it in. I dont do much offroading but would love to go just to hang out and see all the other Jeeps that are there and enjoy the experience and the dday. Sounds like a great time. Rich..

Just thought I'd bring this topic back up to the top. My Idaho Jeep Jamboree USA trip is less than a month away. Just wondering if anyone from here was going to be out there. I was thinking it would be cool to run the trails with a group of Unlimiteds all together. Then we could take some good pics of Unlimiteds in action...and compare what modifications we've done work/don't work. Hope to see some more of you out there!!

Jeep Jamboree USA obtains permission for the days of the Jamboree from Forest Service, BLM, etc... So, it's all legal. We had representatives from the Forest Service ride along with us on our Jamboree.
It's all very legal and very well planned out.

I have been to two Jeep Jamborees this year. The Ozark one in April and the Daniel Boone in Kentucky. Both of these are held on private land. The Ozark one is held on Sayers Bison Ranch. The Daniel boone is held on old oil field land from the 30's. They made a point of mentioning not to use your GPS unit to try and come back on your own. One thing I can say is there is quite a differance between the two in how they rate the trails. The Ozark one a 5 was fairly easy. In the Daniel Boone one a 5 was very difficult. The trail guide rolled his Jeep on the first obstical. So we got a 2 hour lesson on winching and recovery. He was not hurt bad and after adding some oil the Jeep started right up. After the smoke cleared he drove it off. Needless to say we did not go down that trail. There would have been lots of undercarriage damage! The next obstical we went up only 4 of the 20 Jeep could make it without winching. It was difficult but very worth it. The second day was mostly mud as it rained . So we had a good mix of rocks and mud. I will go back next year for sure. Now I have lockers so I will do better. I am also going to the French Lick Indiana one in October. We will see how those are rated. The Ozark one had many stock Jeeps of all kinds and they did fine in most cases. The Daniel boone was a differant story. A stock Wrangler OK but, be prepared for a challange even on the easiest trails. My experiances have been great, nice people, good food and fun trails. I was one on only a couple Unlimiteds on both of these. It would be nice to have some more.

I was the only unlimited at the Silver Valley Jamboree (Idaho). Everyone asked how I liked it, and how I liked my 1/2 cab soft top...got lots of attention and surprised them over and over on how well I could do with just a 2" BB and 31" tires.... I had a great time and plan on hitting a different one every Summer.
