Polished or black?

I have decided to get some aluminum rocker guards for the Unlimited.

I am looking for opinions on whether I should keep them polished aluminum diamond plate, or have them painted black.

I off-road a fair bit, but like to shine the Jeep too.

My unlimited is Patriot Blue, with a Khaki top.

Opinions?

Are you looking at the ones on ebay??? I've been thinking about it too, since I've got the Jeeperman Trail Skids, I thought it would be nice to have some black diamond plate along my rockers. Black and Yellow are a pretty obvious choice, but for you...I dunno. Everyone always gets funny when people mention chrome or polished anything on a Jeep. My wife's liberty is Patriot Blue and has the chrome wheels and a few other things...I'd say it's a good color combo. Since they're aluminum you'll have to polish them quite a bit to keep them looking good...but that comes with any "shiny" accessory.

I'm thinking I'm going to get them polished and then have them Line-X'd black. Then all I have to do is scrub them every now and then to keep them looking good.

I used semi-gloss black on my rockers when I bought them last spring. When the scratches and dirt come, they are hard to keep shiny.

Since I'm a doofus, and didn't sand the metal before painting them, I had to pull them off a couple weeks ago, sand and repaint. I repainted them with flat black this time. The wife and I both think it looks much better flat. But that is just our taste. I also painted the headlight bezels black.

Our neighbor across the street has a khaki rubi unlimited, which he has added just about everything possible to. His corner guards, rockers, trail lights, and a couple of other things are shiny diamond plate. It's more bling than I care for, but he likes it and that's all that counts.

Somebody actually makes aluminum rockers? I wonder how they will hold up if you come down on them hard.

Having just sold a Patriot Blue Dakota (traded it in for my Unlimited), I'd go Black. But this is a personal choice. Me personally....I hate chrome.
