I am having an overheat issue now that I put the winch on. Since the winch blocks from the bumper halfway up the grille, I am losing air flow to the radiator, and it overheats when idleing for about 10 minutes. When I get going again, the temp goes back down with the forced air from driving. Any suggestion on how to pull more air in the grill. Maybe fans for the front of the radiator, or a new radiator? Will upgrading the intake help at all? Thanks

Are you sure it isn't another issue? I've had my winch basically 1/8" from my front grill blocking everything for 3 years now, and even on the hottest days in stop/go rush hour traffic, I've never had an overheating problem. Might want to check out your coolant, or thermostat, or? ?

Why would it happen the first time I let it idle for 15 min, right after I put the winch on??? I see your point though. Could be one of those fluke things that happen. But still, having the grill blocked partially didn't help whatever is wrong. On top of that, the orange anvil looking thing is illuminated on my dash. I re screwed on my gas cap to see if that is it.

Take it to Autozone and get it scanned for free. It just seems odd, as I've never heard of folks having overheating issues before. Maybe when you wired it in something went goofy??

The last time I had a problem was when I was running trails all day, ran into some deep water, and maybe shocked something like the thermostat??? My check engine has now turned back off, and its gotta be some sort of fluke. I did everything right with the winch, was an easy set up. So auto zone has some sort of free diagnostic thing. Cool, I live 1 minute away from one. Tom petty was awesome, and the giants are looking strong. I hope they provail. Back to the superbowl now.....

I've had my winch on front for 2 years with out any problem as well. Have you looked to be sure that the radiator is free of clogged mud or leaves etc. After I've been wheelin in mud and water I always hit the car wash and blast out the radiator. If it's partially clogged the winch may have added just enough air flow blockage to overheat.
