Last Sunday we decided to load up the dogs and take them to the dog park. It was a nice day so I put the pet nets in and loaded them into the Jeep. This always creates a frezy of excitement. As I fumbled around in the garage, and Bonnie was still in the house, I heard the most wretched wailing. I ran up to the Jeep to discover that my rottie had been bumped into my CB mount (without the CB), caught his eyelid, and ripped it open trying to get free. The result was a hideous flap of raw meat and blood all over his face. We rushed him to an animal hospital and the were able to stitch him up nicely. It's still swollen, but going down, and he has to wear the cone for two weeks, making him a walking snow plow with an attitude. If I live to be 100, I'll never know a better dog than Ryker. This freak accident crushed me. He's getting better now, and no doubt itching to go for another ride, as am I. He's a couple pics, the day after: I guess the lesson here for me is to look for all protruding objects in the back of the Jeep that can hurt my pups.

I feel you pain. Recently my dog had some issues that made me feel very similar.
Hopefully he makes a speedy and full recovery.

Other than the wrecking ball on his head, he doesn't really seem to care about the injury anymore. Dogs have a freakish indiference to pain. In his mind, the worst part of the day was getting screwed out of a trip to the dog park.
Thanks for the wishes. I'll pass them along to my boy.

I feel your pain. Actually your dogs as well. When I had my YJ, my wife accidentally caught the dogs tail when slamming the tailgate shut, since it didn't close easily.
After teh immediate pain she was ok, and was able to keep all of her tail, which still wags happily today!
Don't worry, the dog has probably forgotten about it already!

Ah, poor guy. I think the worst part is the Elizabethean Collar. Dogs hate those.
That would have scared the c**p outta me, our dog is like one of our children. Hope he's feeling better...

Just makes him look tougher - I'm sure he's already telling all his dog friends that he got it fighting a 150lb bull mastiff and that "you should see him" - plus, I'm sure its getting him quite a bit of sympathy with the neighborhood lady dogs....rottie's can work the attitude thats for sure!!!!
Seriously though, glad hes ok!!
