Well...I'd had a speedo gear on back order with Quadratec since the end of January. I got fed up and cancelled my order. I then found a vendor on ebay selling them (same Mopar Part #'s) for half the price including shipping. So...the moral of this story is: If you need to recalibrate your speedometer, don't buy thru quadratec. Look on ebay for Foothills Offroad. When it shows up, I'll let folks know

That's weird - I got mine through Quadratec in normal time (about a week or so). The dealership parts dept. didn't have any in stock and said it would take about a week to get one in (and wasn't sure what the part number should be). I decided it would be easier to get it at my door in a week instead of having to go back to the dealership.

Yea, I remember when I did mine, the prices were all over the place. So for grins I was at the dealer and asked the parts guy his price and was surprised to hear him say 15 bucks. So I got it from him. It does pay to shop around.

I was in the same boat with Quadratec....back ordered forever. I wound up canceling the order (it was backordered through May) and went to the dealer. Dealer also advised they were back ordered however one dealer across town had one in stock. So drove across town and got it right then and it was cheaper with the dealer.
Oh, and I did get my new speedo O-ring from Quadratec very quickly. However, once it was installed on the new gear and in the Jeep I found that my TCase leaked like crazy around the speedo gear. Nope, didn't nick it. The one Quadratec sent was too small both in diameter and thickness. I replaced it with one from the dealer and no more leak.

I did get my O-ring delivered promptly from Quadratec too... I'll look at the old one and compare it to the new. If it looks wrong, I'll re-use the old until I can get a new one from my dealer. What a pain.... That's a big thumb's down for Quadratec

That's really odd - I got prompt delivery and a good O ring. I guess its a gamble on what you get...

For what it's worth, it was the right part number on the plastic baggy. Just wasn't the right o-ring inside. And dummy me didn't bother to compare em before it went on. I sure did after it leaked though....

Does anyone think it is worthwhile to swap the speedo gear for a jump in tire size to 31's? I am in no big hurry I just wonder how far off it might be witha mild upsize in tire.

that's more a personal question I'd say. For me going from 30's to 33's meant the speedo was off by 10%. When I was driving 60 (by the speedo) I was really going 66. This mattered to me as I have a heavy foot when driving as it is.... I could do without it for a short time, but for $15 it was a no brainer to save me from a couple of hundreds in a ticket (well, one less excuse).

It's only off like maybe 3%... Not worth it, if you ask me. Now going from the original size of 30" to 33" that puts you more in the range of being off 10%... Then it is defiitely worth changing.

I've made this correction twice now. Is that accuracy worth $20 to you? If so, make the change because it couldn't be easier to perform (unless you have a Rubicon).
Running 33" tires and going from 3.73 to 4.56 gears caused my speedo to be off by 20%. Between 75 and 80mph (actual) the rev-limiter kicked in because the speedo went past 95mph.

I've gotten away with going to court and pleading down for driving with a defective speedometer. (had invoice for replacement speedo gear install) Ticket was a whole lot cheaper than the speeding ticket, but more than the cost of the new speedo gear
