I am trying to determine if my wifes '99 Grand Cherokee has a limited slip in the rear. Read where you can lift both wheels off ground and turn by hand, if they turn same direction or opposite tells you what you have. MY question is what gear do you test in? Park, neutral, or drive?

Im sure your supposed to block the fronts, lift the rears, put the car in DRIVE and spin the rear tire forward and if the other tire spins the same way, you got a LSD, and if it spins the opposite way, it's an open. IHTH. Jered

Thanks Jered. I did block the front, lifted the rears, and put it in drive. Both wheels spun same direction. Just for kicks I put it in neutral and same thing. Interesting is when in park (although they won't spin) the one I spun by hand turned about 1.5" one way the other spun same distance opposite direction. Did same test on my LJ and all three times they spun same direction.
