When I bought my Jeep a 4" Ruff Country lift with Teraflex shocks was already installed. There is no transfer case drop and uses factory control arms. It had bad bump steer so I put a Pro Comp front adjustable track bar and Teraflex discos. The lift seems OK and rides well. But that is never enough for me. Now I'm thinking of either getting a whole new and more complete lift, or replacing the control arms. What do you think? If I change the control arms, which ones should I go with? Should I change upper and lower or just lowers? Or am I just too anal? Thanks

If you have no driveline vibs you don't need or want a transfer case drop, you just lose clearance. Be sure your axles are in line, and the track bar is tight. Next check your tires for the proper toe-in. The front of your tire should toe in a 1/16th to an 1/8th of an inch. These things don't cost anything to try. I'd do this before starting to throw money at it with new stuff. Proper air pressure as well. I run 28-30 lbs in my 32"s. Use the chaulk test to see whats right for you. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

sounds to me like you have money to burn
have you considered a Rubicon Express LA lift like 5.5" which is closer to 6 i believe and then you could fit 35's? youd likely need a sye and a cv for this though.
RE also makes a nice 3.5" SF lift which is more like 4" and you could keep your 33's also you can always add a BL/MML with it for more clearance
if not you might consider the RE adjustable control arms upper and lower...
or just use his ^ advice?

The bump steer I refered to had gone away with the track bar adjustments. Actually the jeep drives great now. It is that I now want to run 35's. So I was asking for advise on whether or not to upgrade my current lift or start all over. Most complete lift kits come with lower control arm replacements. Mine apparently didn't come with any. The ride seems OK but I have only a '84 CJ7 with leaf springs to compare with. So I am mostly wanting know about control arms. I could keep my lift, ugrade what is needed and add a 1" BL and MML.

I'm in your boat, wanting to run 35's when I replace the next set of tires. However, I don't want any more lift than the 4" I already have, so I'm going to trim and install tube fenders. This will keep my CG an inch lower.
But first, I have to regear, upgrade my brakes and steering linkages, to handle the load of the big meats.

I know the feeling, I'm going to change the gears but am waiting to decide on tire size. (Size does matter, as they say!) Did your Teraflex lift come with the lower control arms? Mine didn't, I still have the stock ones on. Not sure which way to go yet. I've wasted alot $ by swapping out parts on a whim. So by the power of info on the net hopefully I can see which way to go!
