I just noticed tonight while going thru all of my boxes of old parts from my Jeep, that the Transfer Case Lowering Kit was not installed when my I had my lift put on. This is with a RE 3.5" SF lift.
The question is...are folks with this lift (or similar 4" lifts) running a transfer case lowering kit, or are they getting by without it? I do notice a bit of a "surging/vibration" sound at around 50 mph, but this is only if I have the Overdrive "ON"... if I turn the O/D off, the sound goes away...
I'm thinking I may install the kit myself this weekend and see if the sound goes away. Any suggestions???

I wouldn't bother if you aren't having problems now. If the issue goes away when you turn the OD off without a change in speed - then it is not the drive-shaft angle causing it, as it is still rotating at the same speed.
I don't have personal experience, but I have read posts that said they didn't need it on anything up to 4". Seeing as that damn shovel is one of the first things to bottom out on rocks or the tops of ruts, I would want to keep it as high as possible.

I can't imagine it will help you. I have a 2 1/2" OME lift with a Nth Degree tummy Tuck. Even with raising the transfer case uo that much I don't have any vibs.

The shop that installed my 4" Teraflex lift, back in 2004, put in the t-case drop. A few months later, and smarter, I removed it and have not had any real issues. I doubt you need it, although your 3.5" RE may give you just a little more lift than mine.
I did tear a rubber boot in the t-case shifter linkage, which caused a rattle at low speeds. There was a TSB out on this and I followed the instructions and fixed it.
You should be alright.
