Hi guys, while this is my first post, ive been lurking here for a while, Ive also been over to pirate4x4. I just cant seem to find what im looking for though. When I first bought my LJ, it came with a 2" bb and 32" wildcat radials. After running some trails and rubbing on the fenders I decided I want a higher lift. Im looking at a 3.5-4.5 lift and wanna keep my 32's and if possible the stock arms. I dont want any sort of body lift. Is there a way to do this and not have to change out driveshaft components (sye, cv)etc... while not having the drive shaft at any extreme angles? I assume ill need to shocks? Would it be better to get a long arm? I really have no clue what to do. If i only go to a 3.5 is it even worth it?
Thanks -Max

A 3.5" (I'm assuming you're talking Rubicon Express) will give you around 4" of lift. On the LJ, you WILL NOT need to get a SYE. The longer driveshaft makes it possible. There are a lot of folks running the Old Man Emu suspension with 32" tires, and they look great. OME 2 1/2" lift and maybe a 3/4" poly spacer up front and you'll have a good looking lift for the 32" tires. 32" and a 4" lift may look a little small, but you'll get some great articulation... I really see no need to go with a long arm lift if you're sticking with the 32's. My opinion, but I don't think going to a long arm is necessary unless you want to run 35's. There are some great short arm kits out there that will let you flex quite a bit with 33's (even more with 32's).

So if I was to buy a RE 3.5 lift, which would be best, the Standard or the Super Flex? Also, would I keep my current shocks or need to upgrade seperately? I cant seem to find OME that doesnt use a leaf spring?
Thanks for your help. -Max

Depends on how much you plan on wheeling it. The superflex will be much better off road than the standard 3.5" kit....BUT, if you don't plan on being off road that much the standard kit would be fine and can always be upgraded later with the superflex components.
OME stuff can be found all over the place. DPG Offroad, Northridge Offroad, 4x4 Group Buy, Quadratec, 4WD.com, etc...
As far as your shocks go... odds are they were upgraded with the budget boost, but whether or not they are long enough for the 3.5" or 4" lift...well, you'd have to check the part number on the side of the shock, and make a few calls to see what exactly you've got.

my rear driveshaft has a rubber boot on it. What is with that? Do all jeeps have that?
