I have a 05 with the 6 speed. Does anyone know the correct size of the hex wrench to fit the drain plug. I know the fill plug on the passenger side is a 14mm hex head it is too small for the drain. The local NAPA store was useless and didn't know what I was talking about. All fo the how to's I have seen online indicate that you need like a 24 mm socket but this is a large allen head not a regular bolt head. BTW I just bought the air powered grease gun from harbor freight what a great unit and pretty reasonable too.
thanks
Al

17mm sounds correct but I wouldn't bet my paycheck on it.

Try Sears or K-Mart - Craftsman makes 'em, just a question of if they are available locally.
Otherwise google '17mm hex key' and you will find a few. They aren't cheap, so if you could find them locally, you may be able to take it back if it isn't the right size.
I will be hitting Sears this weekend, I need to change my tranny fluid too...

found it at Sears a bargain at about 9.00. 17mm fits just right although the socket on the filler plug is quite shallow you have to make sure the wrench doesn't slip out and round off the hole. Also when filling the 6 speed trans do you just fill it until it comes to the bottom of the fill hole? When I drained the trans, it had alot less fludi in there than I thought their should be. I put more in than I took out and I filled it just to the bottom of the filler.
BTW, I put in Amsoil fluid and I can tell the difference - much smoother shifting. don't know if it was the fluid or the amount that produced the improvement.

The wrenches are 14mm & 17mm, if you can't find them locally (I couldn't, including Sears), try www.mcmaster.com (McMaster-Carr) - good prices and QUICK shipping.

Use a 17mm bolt with a nut welded on to wrench from, could be free if you've got one laying around.
